Ghar Lapsi.....(Lapsi cave)...

by maltese24

Well, in the south of Malta (close to Blue Grotto) there is a really nice path for a tough walk......one can walk from Lapsi to Wied iz-Zurrieq in an hour passing over the cliffs (its not so easy but the view is just breathtaking!)

St Paul's Catacomb

by daryll

Rabat, few minutes walk from Mdina, is a place for many christian believers regards to St. Pauls arrival in Malta. Well known for pilgrimage to visit the St. Paul's Catacombs, with a small fee you are guided to explore a maze of catacombs.I was wondering, what in the world St. Paul is doing under that small cave.

This picture was taken from the Upper Barrakka Gardens. Fort Ricasoli guards the entrance to the Grand Harbour on the East Side with Fort St. Elmo guarding the west side of the entrance to the Grand Harbour. The Fort is built on Rinella Bay. It was designed by Antonio Valperga who also built the Cotonera lines.

Fort St. Angelo

by Angelinka

This picture was taken from the Upper Barrakka Gardens, across the Grand Harbour from Fort St. Angelo. Fort St. Angelo is built on the site of a temple of Juno built in Roman times. The original fort pre-dated the knights and De L'Isle-Adam was the first to repair the existing ruined fortifications. Grandmaster de la Sengle rebuilt the old Governor's Palace, which became the Magisterial Palace. Fort St. Angelo sits on the promontory in front of the city of Birgu (Vittoriosa). Birgu,Bormla and Senglea known as the Three Cities.

Hagar Qim Temple

by Amazonka

The temple of Hagar Qim, excavated for the first time in 1839, dates from the Tarxien phase (c.3200-2500 BC). It stands on a hilltop overlooking the sea and the islet of Fifla and lies some 2km south-west of the village of Qrendi. Adjacent to Hagar Qim, further towards the cliff face, lies another remarkable temple site, Mnajdra. The surrounding area, which is typical of Mediterranean garrigue and spectacular in its starkness and isolation, is designated a Heritage Park. Much of interest has been unearthed at Hagar Qim, notably a decorated pillar altar, two table-altars and some of the `fat lady' statues on display in the National Museum of Archaeology, Valletta. Hagar Qim itself consists of a single temple unit. However, it is not clear if it was constructed as a four- or five-apse structure. Another aspect of Hagar Qim is the small, three-apse structure near the temple which may have...

Make a "private" boat trip around Golden Bay

by NoRiskNoFun

I highly recommend to do a "private" boat trip around Golden Bay and to the Blue Lagoon. If you have the chance take a "private" boat trip departuring at Golden Bay (offered by a licensed captain called "Charlie"). Charlie is selling his trips directly on the beach at Golden Bay. The good thing is that his boat only caters up to 15 people and not 50+ e.g. like Captain Morgan Cruises. Furthermore he shows also some spots like grottos & caves. which are not shown by the big tourist cruise operators The pricing is fair (around 6 LM pp = approx. 15 EUR)The trip with him was the most memorable thing we did during our whole stay in Malta - a definitive "must do"!Location: "Charlie's Speed-Boat Trips" at Golden Bay

Dingli Cliffs

by Angelinka

The western coast of Malta is trimmed by the fantastic steep cliffs of Dingli. The upper part is marked with small cultivated pieces of earth, that finish in sharpened precipices to the sea. Here it is the highest point of the island.

Nice garden of Selmun palace

by Angelinka

I had a nice walk across this garden with Pierre. We were laughing and saying that he was the king of the castle with his queen. It was easy to feel like this since this gardens’ atmosphere takes you back to the past.
