The atmosphere is wonderful, the bar is quite unique, they bring a small trolley with all the drinks and you can basically choose what you need....koool idea...Very quiet, pleasant ambience. The portions are quite filling and there is always a fortune cookie waitin.... The Tum Yum soup is out of this world. The fried rice and actually everything in the menu is nice and tasty. In a nutshell i really enjoyed the chinese food.

kazin: eat traditional maltese food

by mrpastry

Various associations have a club or kazin, mostly the political parties and band clubs. Here you can have a meal and drinks for very little money. They do like to recieve visitors and you will be welcomed warmly. The labour party club in republic street valletta is a favorite. You will find several kazins in each village. Local traditional food.

Cafe Jubilee: Guinness and Sandwich

by Bilimari

All the restaurants close after lunch, and don't open till 7:30 or 8:00 at night for dinner. But, when your body is still ticking in US time zone, you cannot help but getting hungry in the evening. Especially when you had late breakfast and skipped lunch. This place is open from 8am to late at night, offering variaty of drinks (tea, coffee, beer, etc.) and food (sandwitche, pasta, fish & chips, etc.). Ice cold Guinness is always good. : )I had a hot chicken sandwich, which was very good, and way too big.

Barracuda: Great Seafood Place By The Water

by Bilimari

It's a nice restaurant in the bicentenary building standing at the water's edge overlooking the view of the bays of Balluta and Spinola. It's a very popular place, especially among the tourists, so be sure to make a reservation. All the meals were delicious, and the service was excellent, though, to me, it didn't have the character to make me want to go back there.... It was just like one of the restaurants I go in the States. However, the seafood was really good as they only use the freshest ingredients. Seafood salad and sea urchin pastaThe serving size is huge. Don't try to eat all of them, or you won't have a room for dessert. If you want to enjoy the view, which is really nice, go there before the sunset. Even if you have a table by the window, you don't see anything at night.

D'viking Restaurant & Wine Bar: Scandinavian in Malta

by Bilimari

As soon as you walk in the door, you'll see lots of Nordic theme decorations inside the restaurant. This place serves Scandinavian, Mediterranean, and Maltese food. It's a casual place with TV playing sports and good service.I met a couple who went there several times during their stay. I had a rabbit Maltese dish. It was very good! Do use your fingers to eat it. I'm serious. :)

L-Ghonnella restaurant: Feel the history

by Bilimari

The restaurant is inside the Spinola Palace which was built in 1688 by Fra Paolo Rafel Spinola, Grand Prior of Lombardy and in its hey day was considered as one of the finest examples of the architecture of the period. You'll walk through a nice garden to the door. When you reach to the steps going down to the front door of the restaurant, a cat greets you. :) I had a staffed ham in traditional sauce for main dish. It was good. They seemed to have a good collection of local wine.

chez Philippe Bistro & Cheese: Where everybody knows your name

by Bilimari

A concierge at the hotel couldn't find this restaurant, and I was pretty much gave up on eating here. But, when I was enjoying the walk by the water in Gzira, I happened to find this place! It didn't look like open, so I was going to just take a photo of the place and keep walking. Then, when I was about to take a photo, the owner/chef came out for a smoking break and said, "Why are you taking a photo of my place?" We started to talk, and I made a reservation for that night. When I went back to the restaurant that night, since no one else were there, yet, he pulled a chair to my table, told me what's on the menu, and started to talk. He is very friendly and nice guy! You won't see any tourists go there. It looked like everyone comes there knows each other. I had a wonderful time there.Have a bottle of wine, and enjoy chatting with your friends or family. Forget about the time. That's what...

Rubino: The best Maltese and Mediterranean food

by Bilimari

It's a small restaurant with 3 small rooms. There are maybe 4 or 5 tables in each room. When you are seated, an owner/chef comes and welcomes you. Then he says, "I'm the menu." and tells you what's on the menu that night. (I'm loving the place already!) Both starter and the main dishes were just perfect!!! They serve you with the at most professionalism, yet, very friendly and casual. You can talk, you can laugh, you can enjoy the time there. It was one of the best restaurant experiences that I've ever had. :)) On the day I went, the starters were soup, lasagna, salad, and risotto. The main dishes were, rabbit, ox's tang, and red snapper. All of them looked so good, and I guarantee you that everything taste good, too! They also have some great deserts, but unfortunately, I was too full to taste them. (Note: the starter is a very large portion, it could be a main dish itself. )Reservation...

La Dulce Vita: Great Fish dishes!!

by yuibird

The concierge told us to go to this restaurant if I wanted to have some fresh seafood. We ordered Swordfish with Capersauce, and Pasta combination. It was so delicious. It is right by the bay. Good view, and good food. Service is alright. He never really came to check up on us, but otherwise, it was great place to be. We saw famous celebrity's pictures there like Brad Pitt and etc. Brad Pitt must have come eaten there when he was filming Troy in Malta. Pasta combo!! It is not on the menu, you can ask the waiter to combine couple of the pasta dishes you see on the menu.

Chez Robert: Mmmm...

by jayhawk2000

Mmmm, now that's a spicy meatball! Here I am playing chef at our Gozo farmhouse. You won't go hungry in Malta! Here are some local dishes to try:FTIRA are chunks of bread stuffed with tuna, tomatoes, olives, onions or other tasty ingredients.QASSATA is like an English pasty, a fist-sized portion of ricotta cheese or peas and spinach wrapped in a thick pastry. The ricotta version can be bland while the peas and spinach filling is tart and tasty.PASTIZZI are smaller versions of qassata, but wrapped in flake pastry. Usually these are served hot, filled with ricotta cheese.TIMPANA is macaroni in a meat and tomato sauce baked inside a pastry shell which is turned over to look like a drum.Soups are good, like the hearty vegetable stew called MINESTRA.Always ask at the restaurant about the catch of the day to see what fresh fish and seafood is on offer.Probably the favourite local meat dish is...
