Quayside Restaurant: Simply the Best

by robinia166

This was the one restaurant we wished we had tried sooner (always the way). We went there towards the end of our holiday, then went back as much as we could. The staff are great and really helpful. The food is superb. We wanted to try the rabbit while we were there, but wanted to find a good place and this was it. If you want to try traditional Maltese meals, go here, but you can also have simple meals of all types if you prefer. The rabbit was excellent as was the homemade lasagne and the marinated chicken - I could go on and on! really good prices too.

Caffe Oasis: Allsorts

by robinia166

We went here lots. The food was great (watch the specials board, the swordfish was wonderful with free glass of wine all for just Lm2.95) The staff were great. The picture shows me with John Camilleri, he's the sweetest guy and so helpful. We loved the swordfish, but also, if you just want a snack to eat in or take away, there's a great selection.

Ta' Kris: Excellent, but hard to find

by robinia166

We looked for this place as we had heard it was excellent, but it's not easy to find (took us 2 days!) the problem was, the address is; 80 Fawwara Lane, but we couldn't find it on the map. What you have to do is find the Pizza Hut on Bisazza street and Fawwara lane is just to the side. The door is locked, but a sign tells you to knock for assistance. Don't feel shy about doing this - lots of people do and miss a culinary delight! I had the "Dad's Famous Braggioli" at Lm3.50!!! it was fantastic, melt in the mouth and the vegetables were the best I've ever tasted.

Don Vito Pizzeria: Good pizza and pasta

by pupina

Don Vito Pizzeria (not the restaurant and that is managed by different owners) serves mouthwatering pizzas and pastas. They have special dishes a few days a week and I'm always satisfied with the service when I eat there. There's also an amazing view of St. Paul's Islands if you stay by the window. It's a tiny place so I guess it would not be ideal for a big group it would be perfect for a romantic and reasonably priced meal. Pasta Zarina

La Krepee: Crepes and waffles

by pupina

La Krepee is situated in Bugibba just in front of Mcdonalds. They make both savoury and sweet pancakes (they use real Nutella!). You can eat them outside as they have tables or else as a take away. It's a sight just to see them making them in front of your eyes. Special Crepe (sweet). It's filled with nutella, banana, nuts, biscuits and Gran Marnier.

Gateway Diner: If you're hungy and you've just landed at MIA..

by pupina

Some Maltese give it bad reviews, but I like it a lot. Gateway Diner is an American style diner situated at the Malta International Airport. They serve grills and some pizza and pasta. My favourite is the coleslaw which has a special taste to it. It has 60's style decor and they play music from that era. Every hour, they do the Grease dance. It's very funny, especially the male waiters!

Carrubia Bar & Restaurant: Fresh Seafood

by pupina

Carrubia is situated at the fishing village of Marsaxlokk. They serve various types of seafood and it's always fresh. The best thing about this place is that it's really cheap. They also serve meat. The place is popular with a lot of southerners so if you decide to visit in the evening, make sure you book beforehand!

The Avenue: The Avenue

by pupina

The Avenue is a very popular restaurant in Malta. It is situated in St.Julians which makes it ideal for tourists. The prices are very cheap and the portions are huge. I always have a starter portion of pasta instead of a main course. They serve pizzas, pasta and grills. They also make good desserts. Spaghetti ai Ricci Di Mare

Mamma Mia: One of the best in Malta

by pupina

Mamma Mia is one of the most popular restaurants in Malta. It is always packed with people (even on Mondays). The food is extremely delicious and they serve generous portions. It is very good value for money. During the summer months you can dine outside on the yacht marina. Tortellini in Sarcofago
