Local food

We don't enjoy restaurants all that much, so we like to go to little shops or markets and buy our own lunch or dinner! Just around the corner of our hotel we found this neat little shop where we could buy wine, cheese, bread and tomatos - and then we had a wonderful picnic with Maltese goods! Two of the most popular dishes in Malta are Rabbit and Lampuka (coryphée). We also loved those little mille-feuille take-aways filled with either vegetables or ground beef or cheese - yummie!

Bayside: Nice view

by Kushelkitten

Nice quiet, inexpensive restaurant in Bugibba, Malta. Located on the water side of Islet Promenade it has a great view overlooking St. Paul's Island. A few tables are indoors but most are outside giving it a cafe like atmosphere.Wide variety of food on the menu from breakfast, to pizza, pasta, grill dishes etc. The salads here are excellent especially the chicken with pineapple. Made fresh to order comes with small sides of bean salad and potato salad.

Chez Gaetane: Delicious Food - Reasonable Prices

by Kushelkitten

A cafe style restaurant with outside seating (as most places in Bugibba). They have pretty much whatever you want to eat from Omelettes, Pizza, Pasta, Burgers to traditional Maltese dishes. Also offer breakfast. The waiters are very friendly and go out of their way to make your visit a pleasant one. The food is incredible. Hours 9am-1am My favorite was the Ravioli in Salmon sauce. Why was it good? Excellent flavor. The ravioli tasted fresh rather than the standard dehydrated and then boiled. The sauce had a marvelous flavor with lots of salmon in it. Not just an odd piece of fish here and there.

Delphi Brasserie: Don't miss the Special Nights

by dowdow

The restaurant offers all sorts of food - cold and warm entrees, soups, pasta, meat and poultry, grills, fish and of course desserts, but the special thing about this restaurant, besides having entertainment all the time, is that ...... Mondays and Tuesdays there is a 50% discount on the restaurant food (2 courses min. pp).Fridays it's the SHOW NIGHT, which starts at 9.45pm.Saturdays and Sundays there is a buffet lunch from 12.00pm to 2.30pm for ONLY Lm2.50.PLUS...... Special Days are organised each month, on Wednesdays, really worth it, a buffet for only Lm2.00, from 8.30pm. On Wed 4th May there will be a SIXTIES NIGHT, on Wed 18th May a CHIVAS NIGHT, 8th June MALIBU NIGHT and 29th June CARIBBEAN NIGHT.Since this restaurant is in the Oracle Casino, you have to be over 18 years of age and produce proof of ID on your visit, but you are never expected to play at the casino. You can just go...

Various: Good restaurants in / around Spinola Bay

by NoRiskNoFun

Here a couple of good tips (thanks Zlur by the way!): Peppino's - they specialise in fish and is generally an excellent restaurant.... San Giuliano's / Dolce Vita - just opposite the road from Peppino's both quite upmarket restaurants serving meditteranean food... also Allegro Andante and Terrazza to name a few all specialise in seafood....If you prefer chinese then China House in the backstreets of Spinola Bay is the best.... Bouzouki for Greek food on Spinola Bay is very good... and for Japanese/Med/Fusion food then Zest is definitely the one - first class amazing restaurant also on Spinola Bay.... the restaurant Meze just below specialises in little different dishes .... For a delicious steak then try Buffalo Bills at Portomaso - just up the road from Spinola Bay ....forms part of the Hilton Hotel...

Dont miss great seafood!

by Angelinka

This restaurant is one of the few restaurants situated in Wied iz-Zurrieq. The name of this place means The valley of Zurrieq. It is a fishing village & from there you can take a boat to visit the famous Blue Grotto. The smell of fish just opens your apetite to eat, and if you ll be there you have to eat fish! As you can see in this restaurant I was very tempted to try the delicious shell fish!

Serracino's Cafeteria: Serracino's Cafeteria

by Elly01

Serracino's caferteria is situated in Attard just at the side of the Parish church. The place is relatively quite large however always full up and the service is really slow especially when there are large groups of people. The surroundings are quite pleasant even though the decoration is sort of a mixture of a modern and antique house. Here they serve snacks, salads, bagettes, sandwiches, pies, milkshakes, cocktails, coffees, tea and softdrinks. They serve a great variety of delicious cakes, donunuts and meringues ! The ice-creams are very good too ! Chicken and mushroom toast and the coffee cake (even though at times its called gateaux Mari - it is chocolate mousse with morning coffee biscuits - yummy !)

Fontanella Tea Garden: For the best chocolate cake

by dowdow

I'm lucky that I don't live far from Mdina 'cos I can go to Fontanella whenever I like! If you are in Mdina, this is the place to go for delicious homemade cakes and a breathtaking view of Malta's countryside.
