Traffic lights at Paola: Lemon marenque tart I still dream of..

by Turska

We came very early to Paola, so we would have enough time to find Hypogenum, witch we had booked earlier. There was only this cafe open at whole Paola, and we were not so sure about it when we saw the place and the name. But we were glad to be wrong. We were the only customers at the moment, so I didn´t want to take photos of our cakes in front of weithresses eyes. If I should tell one tart I´m crazy about, it is lemon marenque tart. So when I saw it here, I choosed it. I have never ever had so good one!! It swates my mouth to remeber it! There was a really deep layer of lemon filling and good layer of marenque on the top. And the marenque was so crispy! I guess they use more sugar than Finnish recepies do have ;) So it was not a health food, but it was soooooo good. My husband doesn´t even remeber what he had. But he rembers he liked it also, but maybe he wasn´t so "sold out" to his...

Mr Pickwicks English Restaurant and Bar, Bugibba: Newly Opened

by daftsavvy

Mr Pickwicks only opened on Thurs 9th june. and what an amazing opening night they put on. they had live entertainment and free buffet. no expense spared. Mr pickwicks, is just off tourist street in bugibba, and has a car park to the side of it, which makes it in a very ideal location. Inside the restaurant is two floors. its a big place but somehow the owners have managed to keep it nice and cosy. the owners have opted to only open the street level floor till 4pm, then all evening meals are served on the floor underneath.. with light background music. so you can enjoy a quiet evening meal without the hassle of the evening entertainment if you wanted. they also have a private function room available.they have a fully English menu but can and will cook any Maltese food requested. so you can have a nice mixturethe staff are friendly and very welcoming. and in a huge tourist area like...

Nibbles Cafe And Lounge Bar: The Only English Cafe In St Pauls Bay

by daftsavvy

Nibbles, is a family run truly English cafe situated in the back streets of St Paul's Bay. The owner Dave, is a friendly man, that always take the time to get to know his customers. even if your only there on holiday, he makes you feel welcome and you feel like its a home from home. Inside Nibbles, the decor is upper class. it looks fantastic being black and white and looks fresh and clean. there is a very wide choice of English dishes available on the menu at exceptionally low prices. And Dave tells you that if you want something thats not on the menu. to give him 24 hours and you can have it. my friend fancied trying rabbit.. and sure enough Dave kept to his word and 24 hours later she had rabbit served to her, Dave also makes the fantastic Sunday roast dinners. Definitely the sunday roast Dinner... and cheap too .

Enchante: Real local-yocal pizzeria in fabulous location

by brittwit

This has got to be one of my absolute favourite spots to eat out at. Whenever i have visitors coming over it Malta, its one of the first places I take them to. During balmy summer evenings, its a delight to sit out and enjoy the view of the Birgu Marina on the other side of the creek and watch the boat activity. They do some wicked fish dishes, guaranteed to taste fresh, and pizzas are delicious. But be warned....service can be appalling expecially if they're fully booked which they usually are, especially on weekends. By the way, you have to book for a Sunday lunch if you dont want to be disappointed..its THAT popular. Be prepared to wait a bit and dont get frustrated if the staff keep walking straight past you several times even if you put a strobe light on your cap, raise both hands and sing the national anthem! The view is beautiful and will occupy you if you are being ignored.

Sumatra Restaurant: A little Sumatra in Malta

by Bilimari

I admit, I start missing Asian food especially after several days of eating out every meal. So, when I saw this restaurant, I was happy to go inside the door. It's a casual and friendly atmosphere, you can probably bring kids, too, if they know how to behave. They serve Malaysian, Singaporean, and Indonesian cuisine.I had a bit of everything (as you can see in photo), sea food, chicken, port, and beef. All good. The fried rice was good, too. They weren't busy when I went, but I'm sure they get much busier on the weekend and/or in peak season.

The Jolly Fisherman: Pizza is Brill

by ellierae

The place was in Gozo, just by the side of the sea, it had a good selection of dishes and a pizza big enough for two people worked out at just £2. The staff was very helpful and polite. Pizza. The size would fill two people and the price was good.

Sushimed Restaurant: Best Sushi Restaurant in Malta

by borgpatsy

Yesterday we went to this brand new restaurant, Sushimed. Apart from being a stone away from Paceville, which is great because you can eat and then continue having fun!! This restaurant offers a great variety of Sushi and also Mediterranean food, that's why its called Sushimed!! Well, the owners are very helpful, they helped us to choose, (as we're not experts in sushi) and if we didn't like something they promptly offered us an alternative. Food and atmosphere were great. I would recomand this restaurant to everyone who would like to try sushi!!!

Allegro Andante: Give this one a wide berth

by Davidcpm

Situated on the Quayside at St Julien Malta, beautiful location . Unfortunately theexperince did not live up to the setting . We had a light lunch at the Allegro Andante. We should have taken note of the filthy table cloths before we sat down. Service was very slow, when the food arrived it was very disappointing. chicken was actually reconstituted chicken nuggets, the anti pas to mix comprised Zooey vegetables , at €7.50 a plate . The mussels and chips were the only edible food . Finally, the credit card machine " was not working " . Strongly suggest you avoid this place.

Allegro Andante: Lots better to choose from

by bittentwice

From the two occasions that I visited this restaurant I have come to the conclusion that the management rely heavily on the natural ambience of its location. Instead of taking advantage of being able to attract clients because of its beautiful location and respecting us for visiting, for the second time we were thoroughly disappointed and wouldn't go there for free. I wouldn't know!

Salvino's: Great pleasure @ Valetta

by Dr.Styranki

The first impression was not so great as there was a kind of plumbing problem next to the restaurants entrance. However the furniture was modern and clean and lunch menu was served promptly. The location is just comfortably out of main tourist hassle, yet not too far away Sea urchin pasta was best I have ever tasted.
