The Avenue: The institution

by grantica

Well, The Avenue, is the best quality=price hot spot in Paceville. We followed the directions of Lonely Planet and found this absolutely amazing place. We met some locals who said that none of the restaurants in the area was trying to compete as this place was a real institution. We went there almost every night and we were never disappointed. The food is international, you can get from Italian, seafood, salads, pizzas etc. I had some better pictures with their famous seafood but just couldn't put on. We ordered every night a bottle of local wine, the white wine from Gozo is very strong and the red wine called La Valletta was excellent. Risotto ai frutti di mare-rice with seafood.

Tex Mex Bar & Grill: Tex-Mex in Malta!

by mazzap

The little info leaflet I picked up in this restaurant points out that it is not actually a Mexican restaurant, but a South Western American Restaurant! The food was good, fresh, plentiful and very satisfying. All evening there was a loud and very lively atmosphere (not the place for those wishing for a quiet time!) Music is played from all eras. A separate kids menu is available too! The spare ribs are amazing not only in size but taste too! A truly excellent choice!

Bianco's Mediterranean Grill & Wine Lounge: Trendy Decor & Menu, Great Food!

by mazzap

Spent a great evening here during our holiday summer 2007. The emphasis is mostly on Mediterranean food but there is a wide choice of popular local Maltese dishes too. The food was delicious and service was great! The restaurant had only recently opened under this name and the staff were pleasantly enthusiastic and eager to impress! The restaurant is situated right in the heart of St Julians opposite the harbour. The picture is of the plate of individual mini burgers that my son ordered! He was thrilled to have 4 all to himself, and they tasted as good as they looked! Lovely chunky chips were served with the burgers!!

La Dolce Vita: Enjoy The Amazing View While You Eat!

by mazzap

The view here is probably one of the best you'll get when dining in Malta. The food was imaginative and of a very high standard. The wait staff were always ready to help so all in all a lovely evening! If you make a reservation, ask to be seated on the balcony or at least ovelooking the harbour. We enjoyed a variety of foods including mixed seafood, steak and delicious deserts! Lovely house local wine too :-)

Ta Lukardu Coffee & Wine Bar: Conveniently Situated for a Coffee & Snack Stop!

by mazzap

Stopped here for a break whilst exploring the heart of Valletta. It's quite far down along the main road that runs right through the length of the city from the main entrance gateway. By the time you get here you will be glad of a rest and an ice cold beer or fresh coffee! We were made very welcome even though we did not eat a main meal, just tasy freshly made Maltese snacks. They serve food all day!

Marsaxlokk: fresh fish restaurants

by ROCKARIA

There are good restaurants and bad reataurants like evrywhere in the world. But most restaurants in Malta do their best to please the clients. For fish restaurants you can try various parts of Malta but i suggest marsaxlokk, its a fishing village in the south and is abandant with reasonable priced good fish restaurants.Bus transport is excellent and the cheapest in E.U.and most of them have just been replaced with brand new ones although you will be surprised to see or ride one of the "bone shaker" models :) Buses usually depart every 20 mins from all terminals and congregate at the central in Valletta. Most of the time there is a bus waiting in the terminal and you can alight and wait till it depart on its schedule trip.Re driving a hired car and driving we maltese drive in the shade especially in summer :) but just give way and all will be ok!Re potholes...well we are still awaiting the...

United: Rabbit extravaganza

by Scoobydoo5000

Situated in Mgarr, just behind the church, United may not be much to look at, but the food is excellent. Not many tourists go here as it is off the beaten track, but it is well worth a visit. Try to book though, expecially on Friday and Saturday as it gets very busy. The theme is Manchester United, hence the name of the place. It is cheap ... around 25 - 30 Euros for 2 with a bottle of wine and dessert. The rabbit is the main dish and I haven't seen anyone ordering anything else, except perhaps the local snails, which come in small shells, but the snail inside is enormous. Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit.

Mozzarella's St.Julians and Sliema: Great Food Large Portions

by winsun

Much enjoyed myself while I was in St.Julians, particularly the meal I had at Mozzarellas. I had a full rack of succulent spare ribs and enjoyed every minute of it the portion was huge and a great price.Went again this time for the pizza as I saw it being served thought it smelled good and it did very Italian. This time I tried a dessert as I had space for it unlike the other day with the ribs. They have fantastic desserts made by their Sicilian patisserie.. mama che bello! Great place be back:) The huge Spare Ribs are juicy and good to the bone, try them..

D'Viking, St Juliens Bay, Malta: English and made very welcome

by eileen95uk

Contrary to the other report, my friend and I visited the restaurant 4 times in Sept 2007 and each time we were greeted and seated instantly. We enjoyed excellent food and even free drinks on the last visit. There were various flags around but as the owner Tom is Norwegien and his wife Sue, Maltese, I do not see the relevance of the Nazi comments. They could not have been friendlier or given us better service. Perhaps because we dress smart! Rabbit with Pasta and Swordfish

DIVA CAFE: Get a snack listening an opera in a little palace

by SpaniardPolo

THIS IS OUR FAVOURITE SNACK RESTAURANT IN VALETTA AND IN THE WHOLE ISLAND FOR SEVERAL REASONS.YOU MAY SEE SOME OF THEM JUST IN THE PICTURE. YOU'RE SURRONDED BY AN INCREDIBLE ATMOSPHERE IN AN OLD PALACE THAT BELONGS TO THE "MANOEL THEATRE" IN OLD VALETTA MAIN STREET.AS WELL IF YOU WANT SOME OTHER CHOICE THERE IS AN OTHER RESTAURANT INSIDE THAT SEEMS TO BE A STEP FORWARD IN CATEGORY. DIVA CAFE IS PERFECT FOR A SHORT BREAK WHILE VISITING VALETTA. TRY ONE OF ITS DELICIOUS AND UNEXPENSIVES LOCAL TOAST SANDWICHES. DURING THIS TIME YOU CAN ENJOY FROM AN OPERA IN THE HI FI SYSTEM.TRY ALSO SOME EXCELENTS SWEETS AUSTRIAN STYLE...........A MUST IN VALETTA.....IT'S A PITY BUT THEY DON'T HAVE NEITHER ROOMS NOR BEDS FOR A SIESTA AFTER LUNCH.
