Baystreet complex: Shop shop shop..

It´s a shopping centre. Lot´s of shops under the same roof.
We liked this one better than The Point in Sliema. There was at least some shops witch were local small places, not chain-shops.

What to buy: Everything?

What to pay: Anything? Not very expenisve places. "Normal" prices.

Shopping complex in Paceville

A huge shopping complex in Paceville. Paceville is located on the hill between Spinola Bay and St. George's Bay. There are lots of fashion stores like for instance Naf Naf, Mexx, Calliope and Terranova and on ground floor you'll find a big Adidas Brand store. In the cpmplex there are also several restaurants and bars, incl. Hard Rock Cafe. Open every day from 10 till 22.

Zara: Fashionable clothes in a fancy store

glamourprincess 207 reviews

Zara is an international clothing store with shops almost everywhere.. but if you're new to Zara you should definitely visit their store in Sliema. It is huge and spacey with lots of trendy clothes. The prices are not too bad either. If you have Zara in your home country the prices are probably similar and it's no need to try to make a bargain, but you might find something they don't have at home since they get so few of each garment. Clothes for women, men and kids. And it is air-conditioned and cool on hot days.

Bay Street: St Julians' shopping mall

Bay Street, St Julians Bay

Bay Street is a shopping complex by day with nightlife at night. There are a large number of different types of stores, mainly selling leading brands and there are also a lot of smaller stores too. There are a large number of book shops, cafés and restaurants and you are only a matter of metres away from all the pubs and clubs.

What to buy: The bookshops have a lot of books on Malta and Maltese cooking. Otherwise shoes for the beach and the pool are easy to come by if you have forgotten to bring yours.

What to pay: Prices are competitive by Maltese standards - and there are a lot of English books available at the same price as they would be in the UK - great if you don't get back to the UK that often.

Fresh Fruit & Veg: Fresh Fruit & Veg

Fruit & Veg

Fresh fruit & veg is really in abundance around Malta, sold either in little shops or in many cases from open wagons that park up in the streets or the squares. The fruit in particular was lovely - I've never had melons like I've had in Malta, and pineapples too. At home fruit is always hard and not ready, and you have to wait days and days for it to ripen. Even then it is not that "juicy" kind of ripe. In Malta though, everything was REALLY ripe and juicy! It was hard to eat the fruit without making a real mess - lucky you could usually just plunge into teh sea afterwards!
This F&V stall is in Ballutta Square.

One Lump Or Two?

This fish (I have no idea what it was, but looked like Tuna if you get Tuna in the Med?) had just been landed by this guy on his boat. He was hacking it into chunks for anyone who cared to buy a bit. It was all very impromptu and also rather gorey!

La Gelateria del Buon Gelato Artigianale: One of the best ice-cream shops I ever visited!

Ice-Cream shop

The ice-cream sold here is really good - I think its the best ice-cream I ever tasted in Malta. The ice-cream sold here tastes exactly like the ice-cream I had tasted in Italy. It's very creamy, milky but it melts quickly besides there are loads of flavours. You can buy in cones, cups and in tubs.

Bananas: Nick-Nak Place in Paceville !
Elly01 profile photo

2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Elly01 354 reviews

This shop is situated in the main road leading to where all the nightlife is that is, Paceville in St.Julians. It's open early morning and remains even till 11.00 p.m. especially in Summer since it is a very popular place.

What to buy: This is one of my favorite because it has loads of nick-naks which include ear-rings, belly- rings and loads of fancy pencils, pens, carnival masks. Also has cards and post-cards! Has loads of soft toys, key chains, fancy holders and these lamps with loads of glitter and also volcano lamps I consider really funky ! Well, if you want to have a laugh you must go to this shop. At times, I spend hours looking at the things !

What to pay: Well, if you buy alot like I do then be prepared to spend alot in this shop even though things are cheap but by buying alot one might over spend here !

Tal-Kantuniera: Local Craft and Souvenirs!

Tal-Kantuniera

Well, this shop is in a corner on one of the main roads of St.Julians close to Paceville where all the nightlife is. It not only sells souvenirs but also cards, cd's, books and stuff you will need on your holiday here however whether you are staying in Sliema, Bugibba or St.Julians you always find these types of shops around so don;t worry !

What to buy: You find everything you will need, some of them even stock up with food stuffs and beach accessories ! At times, you will be surprised what you find in these shops. It's like they plan ahead what a person will need beforehand and what's good is that they even stay late open even after 10.00 especially the ones around Paceville area!

What to pay: Well, it depends what you buy !
