Swimming goes on everywhere in Malta. Anywhere that has access to some water has some kind of swimming going on. These kids were swimming off Senglea point which juts into the Grand Harbour. Tankers, cargo ships and cruise liners sailed past just a few yards away from them.

Most towns have a football club too, some seemingly allied or named after clubs in the UK. This is Senglea Athletic, and OK, Athletic is quite a common name for football clubs, but in Paola there is Hibernians and in Pieta there is Hotspur...
I don't know where games are played, I've never seen on in progress nor seen a football pitch, but then I've only been in summer when the season is not underway.
