Favorite thing: Sliema – originally named Tas-Sliema is a city axcross the of just under 15000 inhabitants across the water from La Valletta’s Marsamxett harbour. It is predominantly a modern town, with a long seafront promenade, plenty of unassuming buildings and lined with hotels, bars and restaurants. Here and there, unexpectedly, you can find the odd old and beautiful church… a touch of charm in an otherwise bland location.
Fondest memory: I chose to stay in Sliema for a simple reason: it was my first trip with my baby (3 months and a half) and needed a place with little traffic, clean air, and the chance to go for long walks – and near La Valletta for some sightseeing. Sliema, in this respect, is the perfect location.

Favorite thing: The beaches in Sliema are stony as in whole Malta. I'm not sure whether there are more than two sandy beaches in whole Malta island or not? So, if you plan your vacation in Malta, better book hotel with outdoor pool.

Favorite thing: Since my last visit 10 years ago, I have seen vast improvement in the promenade area of Sliema.
Here you can see they have built a lovely garden and rest area.(unfortunately it was between seasons, so the summer bedding plants had been taken up, and soil prepared for the winter/spring planting.) Before it was just rocks and little else. At either end of these gardens on the foreshore are well equipped and very safe play areas for the little people. We saw many children enjoying the play area, some Mothers even taking a picnic lunch for the little ones.
The gardens are well designed, with seating and shady areas. Toilets are provided too.
At night the gardens take on a different hue. I did try to take some photographs but it did not do the garden area justice. One picture I did take that is on my pages, is the one of the fountain lit up.

Favorite thing: When you are around the area, or anywhere on the island, look out for the old and the new. I spotted these two dwellings next to each other, along the Sliema waterfront. What a contrast.

Favorite thing: If you are on a package tour, the first thing that happens is that your tour rep will want to sell you trips/tours. Do not pay the high cost of these, instead get the same tours through an agent like OASIS TOURS who are agents for Captain Morgan cruises.
If you are staying in Sliema then the office is next to the Preluna Tower apts. The costs are considerably lower.

Favorite thing: Sliema is one of the biggest business and tourist cities in Malta. It is just next by Valletta. There you can go for shopping, dining, sightseeing or just to relax by the sea.
