Visit Malta Bus by sandysmith Sliema is well placed for good bus links across the island: Regular service runs to Valletta - tickets just 20cents. Other places of interest on Malta can be reached without having to go to Valletta first. by using the new VisitMalta bus service. There are two routes, the North and the South route. The North Route (Bus 505) visits Mdina, Rabat, Mosta, Naxxar, Buskett and Dingli Cliffs. The South Route (Bus 506) visits San Anton Gardens, Siggiewi, Hagar Qim & Mnajdra, Wied iz-Zurrieq, Marsaxlokk, Kalkara & Cottonera. Ticket prices for the tourist bus are dearer at 2 lira for the day (can pay on bus) but the well worked out timetable means you can plan a good day out visiting several attractions in one day - more easily than the scheduled bus service. Plus the ticket can be used on either route - so you can mix and match - as well as any scheduled bus service up to 23:00hrs.

Sciliy Catamaran by sandysmith Certain days of the week you can even take a catamaran to Sciliy - takes less than 2 hours and tours of Sciliy can be made in an inclusive price with the travel. Venturis boats are very sleek and shiny don't you think! With just a week here though we had no plans of visiting another country. Theme: Ship/Boat

vintage bus by sandysmith There are even some old vintage buses which can be hired for tours - we didn't get to do this but they so much fun to ride in! The direct services on the ordinary buses cost 50 cents - service 65 route is Sliema Ferry- Sliema Front- Balluta- St Julians- Paceville- San Gwann- Naxxar Centre- Mosta- Mosta Dome -Ta' Qali Crafts Village- Rabat - Mdina and vice versa. Route 645 went to the south of Malta for St Paul's Bay and down to Cirkewwa ( Gozo Ferry Boat Terminal) and route 652 went to Golden Bay. If you are using these buses regularly then it could be worth while getting a pass for 1 day or a weekly pass even: • One day ticket at Lm1.50 each. • Three day ticket at Lm 4.00 each. • Five day ticket at Lm 4.50 each. • Seven day ticket at Lm5.50 each.

Karozzin by Incubus30 These horse drawn carriages are an attraction for tourists. The owners/cab drivers will guide you through the best area of the city giving you a good narration. These carriages (karozzini in maltese) can be found in other parts of the maltese islands. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Sliema's coat of arms by Incubus30 Sliema is not such a large city and its grid style streets should make it easier to move around. If you want there is an online map in the Sliema 's local council website. The link is :- http://www.sliema-malta.com/website/map/ Leave a Comment

cruising info by sandysmith An absolute must whilst in Sliema is to take a harbour cruise, navigating the creeks and the Grand Harbours of Valletta. They are readily availble along the promenade - you'll be asked several times if you want to take a cruise! Do go on one - not only do you get great views from the boat but also a vey interesting account of the buildings and forts around and the history of the island. Captain Morgan cruises are the more plentiful but we opted for a smaller Luzzu cruise as this could navigate further into creeks. Not only this but we got it a cheaper price of 5 lira as oppose to 6.5 lira and it lasted about 20 mins longer. We opted for a late afternoon cruise, cold but the light was perfect and some lovely views too as the sun was going down on the way back to Sliema. There were just a few of us on the boat so we had plenty of room to roam about and the kind crew gave us blankets to keep warm - it did quite chilly at times Certainly something I would do again. Enlarge the pic and you'll see where the cruise goes. Albert's Motorcycles by Elly01 I guess it is very convenient to get around Malta with a motocycle as its cheaper and more efficient as at the peak hours you might find loads of traffic. However, if you come with your family hiring a car is better and safer ! Aviod the peak hours, which are at from 7.30 a.m. till about 9.00 a.m. and also 5.00 or 7.00 these are the times when people will be off to work and later when they are going home after work. Valletta Ferry, Sliema by steventilly The ferry runs from Sliema to Valletta during the hours of about 7am to 6pm (this is only approximate!) and it runs about every half hour or so. The fare is 35 cents which is pretty good and you're in Valletta in under 15 minutes. It's a lovely way to get between the two places, better than going there by bus I'd say, and you arrive kind of behind and underneath the Carmelite Church and the Anglican Cathedral, and not too far from the Manoel theatre.
