A Must-Do activity if you are enjoying Malta in Summer. Do plan to take a ferry trip. You can either choose a day trip which will take you around the maltese islands or else take a night cruise.

Music and food is included in the price. So pack your bathing costume and enjoy !!

Going for a nice walk along the Sliema Seafront is a must. It is very common for Maltese to go and enjoy a relaxing walk during the summer nights along this long and nice area.

The wide pavement makes it a pleasure to stroll and enjoy the magnificent views of the sea.

If you visit Malta in Summer , you should try and have a dip in the nice warm Mediterranean sea.

In Sliema , we have a whole coast of rocky beaches so you just have to choose where to go.

Pontoon and ladders have been erected to make it easier to access the rocky beaches.

There are a lot of churches and chapels in Sliema . It is enough to say that there are 4 Parish churches.

You should try and make it to one of these churches and enjoy the rich interiors of these buildings.

Sliema promontory offers on one side stunning views across to Valletta and on the other side, open sea views.
The promenade, which runs for several kilometres is ideal for walker and joggers. There are plenty of seats, coffee shops, restaurants and bars along the promenade so the seafront is a very sociable meeting place.

There are many very good reasons for staying in Sliema that I've mentioned elsewhere, one of them being its proximity to Valletta. And that doesn’t just mean that Valletta is easy to get to, it means that you can look at it across the harbour. It’s a very special sight by day and by night – in fact it was a picture of that view that made me want to go to Malta in the first place. The dome of the Carmelite church beside the spire of the Anglican is really THE classic view of Valletta, and it is from Sliema that you see it. We spent almost every evening or at least a part of it, sat on the wall by the promenade, or a bench if we were lucky enough, just taking in that view and watching the people throng past.

Fernandes II is a beautiful wooden boat with two masted gaft rigged Turkish Gullet, quite a large forward deck and a saloon.
We had an amazing trip from The Sliema Marina and cruising North westwards towards Gozo and afterwards Comino.
The captain, his wife and the whole crew were lovely.
The icing on thye cake was the music during our awesome trip, carefully selected for each moment iof the day.
We started with Enya, listened to some Australian birds, by 11 am while fully sailing Vanghelis, Spanish naughty music for the lunch, feeling blue songs after the lunch and so on...brilliant)

From the Sliema Strand - the name given to the promenade area - the classical view across the harbour to Valletta can be enjoyed with the dome and spire of the churches there. This is beautifully lit up at night too along with the defence walls and fortifications.

    Gardens, Sliema

Right at the end of Sliema seafront, almost where it becomes St. Julians is a small park/garden area. I thought that I saw or read somewhere that is called the Peace Gardens, though I can find no record of that now. Anyway, it is there...
There’s gardens, fountains, ponds, bridges, shaded seating areas and children’s playgrounds all set beside the sea overlooking St Julian’s Bay and across to Paceville. In the picture here you can see the Casino of the Westin Dragonara on the tip of Dragonara Point in the distance. The gardens are a haven for stray cats and there are some real beauties in there and for the most part they look quite healthy. In the evenings especially you will usually find people out in the park feeding the cats.

    Lazzaretto
    by sandysmith
Manoel Island is known in Maltese as II-Gzira, which gives the name to this area adjacent to Sliema, and means The Island. The Island, 0.5 sq. km, in area, lies in Marsamxett Bay between Sliema Creek on the Sliema side, and Lazzaretto Creek to the south.Manoel Island was used as a quarantine Island by the knights of St John - an isolation enclave against the plague and the infectious diseases that were rampant in those days. In 1643 the Knights built a quarantine hospital and a Lazzaretto on its southern flank, and the creek became the quarantine harbour. Galleys and ships arriving from plague-infected ports spent several days in those waters while their crew were housed at the Lazzaretto. In more recent years this hospital was used as a submarine base during WW2.
