Diving in Malta

by tophat30

The Maltese Islands’ clear blue Mediterranean sea is ideal for scuba diving and is highly accessible by relatively every area of the Islands. All three Islands offer excellently unique diving experiences with reefs, caves and wrecks to make the dive one of the most interesting ones in the Mediterranean. The calmness of the sea makes for excellent visibility and the wildlife danger risk is extremely low, creating an ultimate location for first time divers and beginners. For the more experienced divers, there are various sites that include archaeological artefacts, some from WWII, some even dating back to the Roman era. The depths of the dives vary, from the very shallow 12-metre Ghar Lapsi dive to Lantern Point, which takes divers to an underwater tunnel that leads down well over 50 metres. There are several types of scuba diving courses & scuba diving activities offered by locally...

In Malta and even in Gozo there are various outlets where one can rent equipment to go scuba diving. I am sure that they will equip you with everything just make sure you follow a qualified course though. I believe it is about Lm100 to do a basic course.

Scuba Diving in Malta

The water is just so beautiful in Malta that I cannot even come close to put it in words, and it's a perfect place for underwater photography. Besides the fish and sharks, there are many wrecked ships and planes lying on the seabed where you can visit. I've heard that archaeological finds are very common, but you have to report it.I've never had to do this in US, Caribbeans, and Australia, but here in Malta, in addition to your divers ID, you have to show a medical health certificate before you dive.In early January, water was a little too cold for me that I ended up not diving, but I saw some hard core divers going under water.Divewise Malta is a PADI 5 star shop, located inside Westin hotel in St Julian's.They offer several diving packages including a trip to Gozo and Comino, PADI diving courses from open water to Instructor, and some specialty courses including Nitrox. Your own...

Horse Riding

by dowdow

At the Bidnija Riding School you can enjoy one or two hours of horseriding in the beautiful maltese countryside but if you fancy to go somewhere nearer you could go to Pembroke or Marsa as there are Riding Schools in those areas as well. None as riding hats are provided as well.

Badger Karting

This sport is real fun but I think to really enjoy it you really have to go as a group. I used to go with my friends from work when a tournament was organised by the offices where I work. It was really exciting! Badger Karting is in Ta' Qali and they have 17 different track layouts & 25 petrol powered karts. They have events of arrive & drive sessions and also Gran Prix with trophies. Here in this photo I'm the third one in the front row, from the right! None, since helmet and suit are provided - . Just wear good sports shoes!
