by erikute3534

THE CAPITAL- VALLETTA The dramatic outline of the city , with its superb bastion walls wrapped perceptively around it and its skyline of rectangular masses varied only by a cupola or a church spire, remains an impressive sight, whether viewed from the sliema side of Marsamxetto harbour or from the other side across the Grand Harbour. By night floodlit to perfection, it is a moving sight.

Anyone who loves the sea and water sports, loves Comino. This tiny island is given over to swimming, snorkeling, diving, windsurfing and dreaming in the sun. The waters are crystal clear with safe bathing for even the youngest children. The superb Blue Lagoon is not only excellent for swimming but also one of the most wonderful sights of the Maltese Islands.

Popeye VillageThe film producers built this village purposely for the film about Popeye. It is a small funn park for kids and adults. You can wach a short movie of how this village was built and the film itself. The price is slightly over valued for such a visit. But outside the village you can enjoy beautiful views. There is a small coffe shop and small playing field for the children.

THE OLD CAPITAL - the silent city, one of my favorite cities in the world! Mdina is the Oldest town in Malta. The Arabs named it Mdina (meaning 'Capital') It was the Capital city untill Valletta was built in 1571. Mdina , also known as Citta Notabile, dates back to Roman times. It is a typical medieval town. Fotr its tranquility it is also known today as the 'Silent City'. Historical and architectural sites abound.

GGantijaTemplesTarxien TemplesOnly a few hundred metres from the Hypogeum, the above- ground Tarxien Temples provide a striking contrast to those dark subterranean chambers, through the urban environs hardly make an appropriate setting for such age-old relics. This omplex is the largestand most recent of the 'Copper age' temples in Malta.Hagar Qim and Mnajdra Temples: Hagar Qim means 'Standing Stones' These twin temple complexes occupy a spectacular site above the sea, looking out at the island of Filfla. The sites date back around 3000BC and there are a number of similarities with the Tarxien temples. 1.5KM off QrendiGhar Hasan: (Hassans Cave) There are many legends about this cave on the Southern coast; all featuring the Saracen, Hasan, who took refuge here, and most of them referring to at least one young maiden that he abducted and imprisoned. The cave itself is no morethan a long...

ATTEND A VILLAGE FESTA These festivals are held all summer in different villages to honor the patron saint of the village church. There are usually a few different ones going on every weekend and it really is a must see. The church is decorated with lights on the outside and many flower arrangements on the inside. The large statues of the saint are placed out in front of the church on display. The streets are decorated with lights and banners and there are bands playing. Saturday night is the big fireworks display and IT IS BIG!!!I arrived a little after 9:00 pm and they had already started. There was music and a light show to accompany the fireworks and they went on until almost midnight. At this time when the air fireworks ended, the crowds of people headed towards the church for the ground fireworks. The ground fireworks started a little down from the street that the church was on....

SLIEMA and ST.JULIAN'S Many tourists stay in the these 2 cities. Although there are not many historic sites here, it is a great place for your base. There are many shops, restaurants and some rocky beaches here. There is also easy access to boat trips and Valletta from here. No place on the main lsland is more than 30 minutes by bus from this location. At night time, you can take a nice stroll along the sea in Sliema or you can venture out to St. Julian's for some nightlife.

by chrissyalex

FILFA Filfa is a small unihabited islet approximately 6 kilometers from Wied Iz-Zurrieq. Filfa was once used as a target for bombing practice by the British army, which reduced the size of the island by half. But now,it is a natural reserve that supports breeding colonies of storm petrals( a sea bird) and a unique breed of lizard. You can't visit this island, but it can be viewed from the Blue Grotto, the Dingli Cliffs and when taking the 'Around Malta Cruise'
