Triq ir-Repubblika is Valletta's main street and the most important street in Malta. It runs north-east from City Gate to Fort St Elmo.


This massive building was the 16th century hospital of the Knights of St John. Now it houses Malta's largest conference venue, the Mediterranean Conference Centre, and the Malta Experience.

The Sacra Infermeria in Vittoriosa was the first hospital built by the Knights of St John. It was replaced by an even bigger Sacra Infermeria in Valletta. It is now used as a convent.

The Siege Bell Memorial honours Allied sailors killed in the Second World War convoys, which brought vital supplies to Malta, when it was under siege from the Germans.


Paola's Church of Christ the King is another of Malta's massive churches.

Misrah ir-Rebha, or Victory Square, is Vittoriosa's main square.
