Grand Harbour, Valletta
Arriving by Cruise Ship at Valletta is a wonderful experience!
Some ports are "just" a Port, and others are spectacular, and for me, the latter is Valletta.
You must be on deck so you don't miss seeing the old town which is the colour of honeycomb and blends into the landscape from the wharf to the top of the hill. You will see the city walls, forts and Church spires and other boats in the harbour, it really is a DON'T MISS!
Favorite thing: If you are after something more than just sunbathing on your holiday, the Maltese Islands present an ideal situation. There are no huge distances to travel in Malta, less in Gozo, which enables one to visit more places of interest and still find time for relaxation.
Favorite thing: The Maltese archipelago is situated in the middle of the Mediterranean, with the largest inhabited island, Malta, lying 93km (58 miles) south of Sicily and 290km (180 miles) from North Africa. Gozo and Comino are the only other inhabited islands. The landscape of all three is characterised by low hills with terraced fields. Malta has no mountains or rivers. Its coastline is indented with harbours, bays, creeks, sandy beaches and rocky coves. Gozo is connected to Malta by ferry and is more thickly vegetated, with many flat-topped hills and craggy cliffs. Comino, the smallest island, is connected to Malta and Gozo by ferry and is very sparsely populated.

Favorite thing: Just past the cutoms house, below the Victoria Gate, is the old fish market and wharf. The original buildings were destroyed during World War II and were then rebuilt. and now more renovations and redevelopments were taking place and I wonder what it will look like in a few years time, but for the now the colours of the doors and balconies were eye-catching.
Favorite thing: From the walls of St. Elmo on the West side of the entrance to Grand Harbor you are able to see Breakwater Head Lighthouse which is also known as Gran Fanale. It is assumed to be established the year 1450.
Favorite thing: · View the Maltese Islands and historical harbours from the sea by taking one or more of these popular sightseeing cruises.
Favorite thing: The fishing boats are very colorful. And they have some very peculiar names. If you look on my Malta page, you will see a boat named "James Bond 007" in my travelogue.
