Tico Tico is a cosy little typical local Maltese bar that only serves bottled beer, though you can never go wrong with a nice cool bottle of Cisk anyway. It is also pretty much the only bar in town that does actually stay open until about midnight… no matter how much the proprietors of Oliver Reed’s The Pub may want to convince you otherwise. ;-)
The owners, Tony and Mary, are wonderful and their food is simply delicious. Not that they even have a menu, but in a wonderful Mediterranean tapas style fashion they serve regular food for free together with the very inexpensive drinks: risottos, mussels, goat’s cheese and and and….
We discovered this place by pure chance when walking around extremely thirsty and stayed for a good few hours, whilst cancelling all other dinner arrangements. A fun time was had by all…….
Go in, have a few Cisk and give the owners my regards.

I'LL LEAVE THIS TIP AS IT IS EVEN IF IT IS JUST A REMINDER OF A FUN NIGHT OUT, BUT I HAVE NOW HEARD THAT APPARENTLY THIS BAR TOGETHER WITH SOME OF THE OTHERS ON STRAIT STREET HAS CLOSED. THIS MAY JUST BE A SEASONAL THING, SO I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE SOME UPDATES FROM FUTURE TRAVELLERS TO MALTA.

A: I think a full day in Valletta would do to explore the town quite well. You could add a second visit to Malta to go to Mdina.
