There’s not much shopping to do in Chisinau, except for the Moldavian spirits - wines, brandy and champagne. Try all famous brands, but don’t miss the Cricova. They have a shop on the main commercial street on the right as you go towards Unirii square.

This is a neat little outdoor market where you can find the fruits of the local fields. As of this writing a more modern enclosed market place is underconstruction. It's a great place to mingle with the local folks Wine and Conac or the fresh produce Wine in the local grocery stores costs a couple of bucks
Inesa told us this was her favorite shop several times during our busride from Iasj to Chisinau. They mostly sell chocolates (bomboane) and candy, but you can also get soft drinks and bottled water. Well, it is a bit difficult to know what to get when you don't speak the language. We just used the trial and error method the first time we were there, pointing at different ones, and buying just a couple of each to try them out. Then we met Inesa (pure coincidence!) and she pointed out some good ones, including one I especially liked called "Macul Rosu". Not that expensive. Small change really.
Realy good quality wine can be found in wine shops in Moldova. If you are an expert you should now that already, if you are just a wine lover you will appreciate the wines, if you are a newbe just take my word for! From the big range of wines in Moldova I would reccomend you: - Cabernet-Souvignon (from lots of producers) - Ialoveni (it's a Heres and can be found only at Ialoveni store and at factory - best heres in the world) - Cricova Champagne - Bucket Moldavii (desert wine) - Aligote The prices are realy low. Dont be surprised to pay less then 1 dollar for the best wine you ever tryed... :) The general price range is 0,5 - 5 dollars for a regular bottle of wine.But you should keep in mind that YOU have to buy it from an original wine store!!!
