The state of Monaco is only half the size of New York’s Central Park, but in contrast to New York City, Monaco has no crime, no poverty, no unemployment, no pollution and no income tax. Despite astronomical land value, buildings are limited to 12 stories. Whatever is unbuilt is park or garden. There is no dirty air, so all the buildings sparkle in the sun.Monaco lies in a narrow coastal strip which sometimes rises vertically upwards with its highest point at 163 meters. There are approximately 30,000 residents packed in this small area and of course this swells to thousands more due to tourists.. There are spectacular vistas if you are approaching by car along the high road; the cruise ships look like toy boats in the water below and Monaco looks like a miniature city in an architect's model.Click on the photo to see a panorama picture I took of this amazing view.

Visit Monaco's Royal Palace which has been around since the 13th century. You must walk up to the top of the hill to reach the palace but believe me - it's worth of it, even in hot weather. There were not many visitors when I visited the palace but it was in early May.

What is that on my picture ??? You could buy it in Les Galerie des Metropole. Rather not a kind of local art, am I wrong? There are a lot of galleries with contemporary art there - not for budget travellers but... nice to look at. Do you like it?

This chandelier as on my picture looked really impressive, am I wrong? You can find a few ones in Les Galeries de Metropole.Don't ask me whether you can buy them there? Hmm... rather not, I suppose. And how to get it to your plane/car? Any ideas? He?

Hmm... some things to buy looked really great there. Look at my picture, am I wrong. Hmm... don't look at the prices (or rather ask for them) unless you are a Rockefeller's son/daughter hehe.

It is worth taking a look inside the Royal Palace - 15 rooms, including the Throne Room, are open to the public. If you've already blown your cash and can't afford the entrance fee, the changing of the guard won't cost you a cent. It starts at 11:55am precisely and is over within two minutes, so be on time.

Every Grimaldi since has found it necessary to leave their mark on the place, and as a result this is NOT one of Europe's most elegant castles. But, never mind, it's a must see while you are in Monaco. Am I wrong?

Visit Les Galeries de Metropole - big and charming place to do shopping, window shopping, caffee break etc. The entrances to the shopping center are in Hotel de Metropole and...through lift just from the street. This tip is rather not for budget travellers!

A whole city. Monaco is old fashion mediteranian city full of glamur and cool babes :) It truly takes you over. Fast expensive cars, everything is clean, nice people and many many tourist. You can also meet a celebrity there.
