Monaco is not just Monte-Carlo

by TRimer

Monaco is really just one big town, but it likes to think of itself as four separate areas.Monaco Ville is the old town, built on the rock; Monte Carlo is the glitzy area north of the port; La Condamine is the port itself; and Fontvieille is an industrial area south-west of the port. A system of public lifts lugs pedestrians up and down Monaco's steep hillside.

The humble and unassuming Casino Monte-Carlo...you probably have no business in this place but go ahead and blow a roll of euros at the slots anyway! Then you can tell your friends that you didn't lose $20 just *anywhere,* you lost it in MONTE CARLO!!

Casino Gardens and Terraces

Spend time exploring the Casino Gardens and Terraces with their magnificent flowerbeds and dazzling scented plants; overlooking the sea, the terraces are immersed in sunshine and entice you away from the crowds.

This is the beautiful church of St. Susanna and the Cistercian Nuns of Rome.Within the walls of the monastery, life is led like tradition of forefathers and by Vatican Council II. Everything....just a beautiful day in a beautiful city.

I love this city.....

Monaco, an ancient principality steeped in a rich and colorful history, is considered by many to be Europe's most fascinating country. Though the Principality covers but one square mile, it stands as a proud monarchy with his Serene Highness Prince Rainier III as its head of state. Today people visit Monaco and its glittering district Monte-Carlo not simply to vacation, not just to test their standing with lady luck, nor merely to see and be seen, but to revel in the memorable life-enhancing experience that is Monaco.

have a walk in 'le sentier de la mala';it is a little path along the sea from cap d-ail's beach la marquet to another beach:la mala when I went back home from my work late at night,I was usually controlled by handsome and well-dressed policemen. it is funny how they fear meeting suspicious pedestrians at night.fortunately, they do not have to work in beirut!see me on the picture outside my home, but I do not live here any more,I left the region(I escaped I should say)

Basics

by Pomska

Monaco is the world's second smallest sovereign state. It covers less than 1.9 sq km. There's approximately 30 000 people living in Monaco, but only 5 000 were born there. Most of the people live there because of taxes or better said because there are no taxes to pay. The inhabitants enjoy the world's highest per capita income. When arriving Monaco amid the skyscrapers of the city. The palace, cathedral and museums are all set on the Rock, a sheer-sided, flat-topped finger of land extending 792 m into the sea. Beautiful!

by wrldtravler

Monaco is mainly for gambling . It is a very entertaining town and if you love to be a high roller well monaco is your cup of tea. Also once a year it is host to the F1 circuit with the Monaco Grand Prix (my favorite time to visit). The city goes crazy and the bay is filled with 100+ ft. yatchs belonging to Car company Execs and other Tycoons.

I guess the Casino is a must!!! To be honest, I do not think there is anything else to do in Monte Carlo, than to just spend loads of money!!! And win loads of it as well, if you are lucky ;)) A night at the Casino will make you feel like you are in the middle of a James Bond movie...place your bets & drink your Vodka Martini shaken, not stirred ;))
