You came to Monaco looking for Glamour, Luxury and VIP ? Then you should not miss the Jimmy'z.

It is probably one of the most exclusive (and expensive) disco in the world. Around 40 euros for a soft drink (and up to 120 euros for Grand Prix night for example) and much much more for bottles...

For sure the place is special. With a gold mine decoration (and many gold diggers !). The most beautiful part is the outdoor garden opened during the summer.

It is the meeting spot of models, F1 drivers and other celebrities but not only. You have your chance to get in, if you look fashion and chic enought. But during the summer season, for F1 Grand Prix and 31the december... it is quite compulsory to book before.

Everyone has its opinion about it, but the Jimmy'z is part of Monte Carlo's legend !

Dress Code: * FASHION *

Monaco is famous for its prince and princess, Formula 1 Grand Prix and... CASINOS ! But don't expect to find something like Las Vegas. The casinos are much smaller but more "chic".

This tradition started in the XIX century and made the fortune of Monaco. At this time the Principality was not as rich as it is today. It was even quite poor and the Prince was desperetly looking for a way to bring money. He had the brillant idea to build a Casino which soon became one of the most prestigious of the world.

Nowadays you can find 4 casinos in Monaco, that all belong to same group : the SBM (for Societe des Bains de Mer) which more or less belongs to the state... There are :

* The Main Casino : you can't miss it. It is the most chic and formal. Nice old style rooms that are more dedicated to the table games and especially "roulette". There is an entrance fee.

* The Cafe de Paris : located just nearby the main Casino, but a much more popular place, with a lot of tourists. Mosty slots.

* The Sun Casino : located under the "Monte Carlo Grand Hotel) : also quite popular, with slots and table games.

* The Salle des Palmiers : is part of the "Sporting d'Ete" and is open only during the summer. Very exclusive too. Mostly for the people that assists a show at the Sporting or go at the Jimmy'z discotheque.

Casinos generally open at the beginning of the afternoon and the legal age to play in Monaco is 18 years old. And an other interesting fact : the Monaco Citizen are not allowed to play !!

Dress Code: * Main Casino and Salle des Palmiers : formal dress required.

* Sun Casino / Cafe de Paris : no particular dress code but try not year sneakers...

My favourite night place in Monaco. Located on the harbour it's the meeting point of english speaking tourist and Monaco residents. Very fun place indeed !
The Stars n' Bars is divided in 3 levels : Pub / Restaurant (american cooking) / Nice Fusion Restaurant and bar at the top flloor lounge atmosphere.
Barmen are cool and cocktails delicious. They also have a DJ on some nights.
The whole decoration is about sports (especially Formula 1) and all the famous people that have been there before you (even if I didn't see any).
A good place to make in friends in Monaco (which is not always easy !)

Dress Code: Casual

This new nightclub is located into the Grimaldi Forum, Monaco's Congress Center.
During the day it is a bar, and at the beginning they just tried to do some occasional parties at nights. But it turned out to be a big success and now the nightclub is permanent. It was actually (is summer 2004) THE place to be Monaco. But maybe it has already changed !
I went there twice and I different experiences. First time didn't like it at all, music was like bad techno and you couldn't sit anywhere because everything was booked for VIP that never came.
Second time was much better, with very good music. The best part of the place is the beautiful terrass with a great view on Monaco.
Very mixed clients : very young teens / older people, VIPS and russian girls in search of an husband.
Of course it is expensive. But the nice part about Monaco if you're a girl is that you'll easily find rich guys that pay for your drinks ;-)
So what I can say is... try it and make your own opinion.

Dress Code: Fashion

Monaco is definately one of the most thrilling spots to spend your nightlife along the Cote d'Azur. Here many clubs, casinos, theatres, cinemas etc. are competing with one another to attract the tourists, passengers, nobility and simple people.

Dress Code: Casula, but you can imaging that there are many places that also demand a finer look.

Now I emphasise I have never been there, nor likely to, but everyone who's anyone agrees this is the spot in Monaco for live music, clubbing, style and general good-time out.

No idea where it is, what it costs, nor do I really care that much, but a nods as good as a wink to a deaf doorpost, if you follow my drift.
