La Piazza: The Piazza

by handsoum

The Piazza is a family owned Italian restaurant. For a full lunch or dinner here (starter, main course, desert and beverage), I'd expect you to need about USD 40-60per person. The atmosphere is very Italian and if you go in warm weather, you will probably sit on the terasse. The reason this restaurant is essential is it's famous CHOCOLATE SOUFFLE. This is the best desert I know of in the world. There is not one person I took here who didn't fall in love with this dish. However, IT IS NOT ON THE MENU, as it is usually reserved for friends of the family or of good clients. You will need to ask them for it. If they ask how you know of this dish, say you have friends who live on the Riviera (or 'la Côte' in French)

Le Bistroquet: Fuji was closed, so had to eat here

by Elainehead

Fuji was closed at the time and as we were hungry, we went to the closest restaurant. Italian & French cuisine.I had a salad (I think), "sole" (fish) and steamed vegetables. I don't remember what my husband ordered. My fish order took too long and when it finally arrived, it was cold. I'm not coming back here. Apparently, there is some latino entertainment on weekends (dinner).

Stars & Bars: Yankees Home...

by Hexepatty

While it stands to reason this should be the biggest tourist rip-off restaurant in town, it could be worse. Prices COULD be higher, food could taste worse, service could be more curt. I expected the worst, and was pleasantly surprised. Plus the backdrop view IS killer! TONS of yachts. Veggie burger & Fries

Outdoor Cafes

by Goner

There are several outdoor cafes near the casino and across from the "Hotel de Paris". I can't remember the name of the one where we sat having a salad and wine while watching for Princess Caroline to emerge from the hotel. Darn, we never got to see her!

Monegasque cooking is quite unique

by keeweechic

Monegasque cooking is a unique blend of Mediterranean influences. Barbagiuan is a type of appetizer filled with rice and spinach. Fougasse pastry is flavored with orange flower water, almonds and aniseed. Socca, pancakes made from chick pea flour, can be found in outdoor markets.Stocafi is a savory main dish which features dried codfish simmered in tomatoes and Provencal herbs.

any along the port front: Plenty of choice for Vegetarians

by ZoeB

I found as a vegetarian that there was plenty of choice if you liked pizza or pasta, I spent most evenings on the port front munching my way through veggie pizza or pasta relaxing,The wine wasnt bad either!Prices in general in this type of eating came to 30 euros between two and that included wine so that was really cheap, I think a lot of the time its just a matter of knowing where to eat. If you go to near the casino, expect prices to be much higher. Pizza! Pizza! Pizza!

Towards the seaside there are...

by Lebanese

Towards the seaside there are a lot of resturants for different tastes. One thing you should be careful, they're very strict in the lunch timings (12:00-15:00hrs). If you reach late then no lunch for you...

The MOULIN DE MOUGINS (one...

by handsoum

The MOULIN DE MOUGINS (one hour from Monaco, half an hour from Cannes)Chef Roger Vergé is widely recognised as one of the 3 TOP COOKS IN FRANCE!!! He is recognisable by his white moustache and southern French accent and people call him 'Maître'. He is the person who made me like eating vegetables when I was 12, as anything he cooks is fantastic. This is a top restaurant and has served people like the Dalai-Lama and presidents Chirac, Carter, the Royal Family of Norway, and very often Sean Connery. But don't expect to see any stars when you go there, as they usually rent the place out.The Dress Code is Jacket and Tie and the restaurant is the cream of the French Riviera so also EXPENSIVE. I'd expect you to need about USD 100-300 per person, depending on the wine. Anything in this restaurant is guaranteed to be incredible.

Surprisingly, food in Monaco...

by James63

Surprisingly, food in Monaco is not great. Pizza parlors abound, and all the best restaurants serve fairly mediocre fare for very high prices. The best bet - and this is excellent if you are appropriately attired - is the restaurant at the Hotel d' Paris. Be advised, however, it will cost.Other than that, there is a restaurant near the casino that serves adequate fare in a colorful atmosphere, and some of the tiny 'hole in the wall' restaurants in Monacoville's narrow winding streets can surprise with their charm - though only with great luck will the food overwhelm you. The restaurants in Monacoville quarter - the capital of Monaco - have delightful atmosphere. The capital's narrow, winding, medieval streets create the little nooks that can shelter very quaint restaurants. However, only with luck will you find food quality to match.
