Visit Monaco's port

by gabyne

... and have a look at all those big and beautiful yachts of the rich and beautiful people... ;-) It's not hard to find since Monaco is very small. If I remember correctly, there are even two ports: one you can see when you look down from the palace (the one on the picture left), the other from Monte Carlo, f.ex. from the Casino (the Formula 1 race track just passes the port there).

The Changing of the Guard

by viddra

If you ever visit Monaco, don't miss the changing of the guard. The ceremony takes place every day at 5 to noon in front of the Palace. It's performed by the Carabiniers in full uniform, which is black in winter and white in summer.

Chez Grimaldi, not too shabby!

by morgane1692

Go ahead and plunk down however many euros it costs to take a guided tour of this place. The Royal Palace. It's pink and it's cool even if you don't see any actual royals. But you may just luck out and meet a fellow traveler in line, and then have a few beers with them after the tour, and still get the occasional email from them from Australia and here it is an entire 3.5 years later already. Maybe that sort of thing happens...:)

Musée Océanographique de Monaco

by SwedishViking

This is the number one attraction in Monaco. Musée Océanographique de Monaco is an enormous building. Built right on the edge of a cliff next to the ocean... The top floor is not very interesting, mostly whale skeletons... The highlight is the basement with its aquariums and water tanks. There are over 90 aquariums in the basement and the largest holds over 48 000 litres of water!Only the basement is worth the 11 Euro entrance...Here you can see sharks, sea horses, lobsters and coral reefs. You are allowed to take pictures and use a video camera, but you are not allowed to use the flash! It's amazing to have a three stories high wall of glass between you and a huge shark! The water in the aquariums comes directly from the Mediterranean. The water is filtrated and cleaned before it reaches the aquariums.Musée Océanographique is most famous for the scientist, explorer and under water...
