Bus trip to Monaco

by tropicrd

The local bus company will take you to Monaco from Nice and then everything is within walking distance. The local bus trip is a wonderful experience and I recommend it to all visitors--it is also a very cheap way of exploring the area.In my opinion much better than the train as the bus takes you on the edge of the cliffs with amazing views.Have fun at the tennis.Dorrise

Come by train and walk around!

by mindcrime

You can catch a train (around 4euro) in Nice and in 20' you'll be here! The train goes along the coast so you will have a pleasant trip with nice view! There are 6 bus lines to move around but you can walk down from the train station and climb the steps up to the hill for the palace. Then you can walk to the Old Town of the city that is near and walk down again from the other side but if you haven't rest until now better get a bus now to take you to the station! :)Bus N.4 connect the Train Station with the Casino and the Tourist Info. There is a tourist train that goes around the hill for 35' for 7 euros. What's more there are some lifts going up the hill

How to get around in Monaco

by Luchonda

Busses are not allowed in the central heart of Monaco, or they have a special "police admission" for a limited time. To get a nice overview and first impression take the hop on/off train - call it the "touristic way of getting around"Three other ways- Your private car ( a RR, Bentley, Honda or even a camper)- A parachute- A heli tour (15 minutes - cost : about 50 euro)

monaco with car or motorhome

by pmodic

If you are going there with camping car, it can be hard for you to find parking space or better it's almost impossible. In the center is just one garage for camping cars. But you must be very lucky man to be there when it's not full. Anyway, we found a "parking" above the "Monaco beach hotel" and went to the center with the bus.

Getting There and Around

By air :The Nice - Cote d'Azur International Airport is located 22 kms away from Monaco. Helicopter, bus services, taxis and hire cars provide permanent links between the airport and the Principality. By train : The main station is the Monaco-Monte Carlo (or SNCF) railway station and numerous long distance trains will stop here. The railway is a fast means of getting around the Principality and all the other towns along the coast of the Cote d'Azur. By road : The A8 motorway, connects to the entire European motorway system (exit A8 – RN7 when arriving from Nice or Roquebrune when arriving from Italy. There are three main roads : the Low, the Middle and the Great Corniches. Distances from Monte Carlo: Cannes 50 km., Menton 7 km , Nice 17 km By sea : The two harbours of the Principality, the Condamine (Hercule harbour) and Fontvieille, are equipped to handle yachts of all sizes while...

Cornice highway from Nice to Monaco

by ZoneMaster

We arrived in Nice on a fine February day. Our driver picked us up in a Renault mini-van, and off we drove for Monaco. Along the way, we started to encounter a little snow, and then a lot of snow, until were were about one kiometer from the Monaco exit, and traffic came to a standstill, due to the highway being closed due to snow and ice. We turned around, drove back towards Nice, and drove along the coast road, through the narrow winding streets and villages. I think the driver was going just as fast as he was on the highway. He spoke just enough English to tell us that it "Never snows in Monaco."

Leave the Car

by kucha

Leave the car behind, as only locals are allowed within the principality with their automobiles. Plan on stying and parking out side the principality -- such as in the neighboring Beausoleil, France -- if you want your car. Monaco's urban bus system has six lines, and will take you to all the tourist spots. If you want to get back to your hotel after 21:00, however, you'll need to catch a (usually surly) taxi ... or walk. Walking is the best way to see the are anyway and the tunnels, escalators and stairways are fun to navigate. Get a good walking map and get going on foot!

Heli Air Monaco

by Agraichen

Most countries and even major cities have an airport. How many can "boast" a heli-port? And right on the ocean with a view? The Heli Air Monaco heliport was a constant buzz of activity especially during the F-1 race. They provided 10-15 minutes "rides" over the course for about $50. Considering tickets on race day were up to and over $600...that sounds like a bargan. During the week however, they do quite a good business shuttling people from the Nice airport to Monaco.

Bus around town

by Agraichen

The Autobus de Monaco is one of the "hidden gems" of the Principality. While one ride might be 1.4 Euro and 4 rides (anytime) is 3.5 Euros, you can get a "Tourist Journaliere" ticket for 3.5 and ride all day long. YES, all day, anywhere. Granted it's only for one day, but you can cover quite a bit of ground if you plan your day right.tickets can be purchased right on the bus.

Monaco to Nice (airport)

by Agraichen

Taxi Francais was promptly on time and the price was as advertised by the Concierge. While most drivers in the South of France can be a bit "agressive" the trip was a joy.Fast, air conditioned and smartly executed. The price...$80 Euros, door to door with all baggage handled.
