by Dick_Loudon

Lots and lots, especially in Amsterdam. Anything you want. I usually walk and watch people, duck into a local pub or small eatery, hoping for conversation; Pretty informal unless you're going to an expensive club or the theatre/concerts

Paradiso: Clubbing in A'dam

Quite an interesting place! Very famous. Many concerts, good avant-garde tunes. Recomend it for sure! Can't remember for sure.... went there with jeans I guess...don't think there's trouble with trainers either

Cafe de Doelen: Cafe de Doelen

Classic brown bar in Amsterdam hidden away from main tourist area but not too hidden.Nice staff and anything could happen next...and does! No food served here but you can order the local sausage, all sliced up for you to dip in mustard on a small plate.

The Supper Club: The Supper Club

by fluffybunny

The Supper Club is a wonderful place to eat and lounge for the evening. At the weekends you can take to the dance floor and be seen with the beautiful people.Very relaxed and tranquil atmosphere. Lounge on a long white bed, like a roman, whilst being served a sumptious, five course meal and together with the pleasures of a masseuse to ease those tensions away.Be warned there are no ladies and gents toilets. It's Homo or Hetero ;) Sunday Best

by xl100

Well it's Amsterdam afterall so pass the kush. Here are a couple of good coffeeshops that you might like...Barney's is absolutely my favorite. Here you can get a fresh squeezed orange juice, steak, eggs and great ganja. Extreme relaxation. The most seductive coffeeshop in town is the Dampkring which has a mostly local crowd. When you walk in you'll feel like you just stepped into the hobbit. Dampkring IS atmosphere.

Plein 79 in 's-Hertogenbosch.: Plein 79 in 's-Hertogenbosch.

Built in the cellar of one of the oldest buildings in this city. Music varies from dance to seventies to alternative, depending on the night (theme or not) and DJ. Whatever you want, very openminded people...

Drinking (the ones I can...

by DeCymru

Drinking (the ones I can remember)- The Lux: chilled out, nice tunes. Hooters: cheesy, busy but entertaining. Irish Bar (can't think of the name on the Lieseplein) - really nice atmosphere and less hectic than a lot of bars on the weekend. The clientelle seemed a touch older and more middle class than other bars visited, but all really friendly and didn't seem to mind 13 drunken Welsh idiots making fools of themselves.Smoking - Smokey's (Rembrandtsplein): busy and quite large coffee shop that also sells beer (which is nice). Music's crap but I can reccommend the Thai Grass. Oh and don't take photos - the rather large bouncer doesn't like it. The Dolphin Cafe: small and cosy coffee shop with a pool table and table football (always fun when you're battered) downstairs. Also sells beer and space cakes. This is a favourite afternoon haunt prior to an Argentinain steak. Strip Club - Bananas:...

Boom Chicago.: Boom Chicago.

by CindyBell

This is an improv group, sort of like Saturday Night Live. They are SO professional and SO funny. I didn't expect to be much impressed - figured it was mostly for tourists. But we've been twice and each time were VERY much in the minority! The players rag on everything from the European Union to urinating in canals. . . it's not for the faint-hearted, with racy language and situations. But it IS hysterical and so much of what we heard sticks with us. I laughed til I (literally) cried. WHATever.

de Kuil coffeeshop: de Kuil coffeeshop

by ajsmd

Of course, in Amsterdam, coffeshop means something totally different. This was one of our favorites for a variety of reasons. They played great American classic rock non-stop, had a pool table, and is one of only a handful of coffeeshops able to sell beer as well as the local flavor. Look for the big 4:20 on the sign. Strictly casual, as is most of the city.
