If you're into history, prehistoric information about the West-Drenthe area can be found in this small museum based on the archeological findings of amateur-archeologist George Hendrik Voerman.
There are a lot of pre-historic findings in showcases. And short video's on how they used to make the objects that they used for hunting and gathering.
Ticketprice is €4 for adults, €2 for children 6-12 yrs, and free for children >6
From roughly July to September there is a Shakespeare play (different one each year, in Dutch) in the open air theater in Diever. Complete with Shakespearean costumes.
You can buy tickets at the VVV (tourist office), and you might want to reserve them (well) in advance. It's very popular and people from all over the country will come to see the play.
The theater is in the woods (open air, bring raincoats/blankets. You can buy hot chocolate/coffee/rookworst during the break).
Best to come walking or by bike, like the locals, there is small parking space and part of the road you can use to park if you come by car.
Pictures are under 'Fotos' on the website.
I'm not a very creative person when it comes to handicrafts. But I rather enjoyed making candles. Now I have to find the address and name of the place. It seems to be a hard one... it's been 4 years ago. Serves me right for waiting so long to make the tip!
Look for mushroom when you decide to hike in the woods round Diever. This little white signs tell you exactly where you are not but for sure you will know where to go ..
The hiding place in the woods where people sat during WW 2 is not a very exciting place,
For remembrance it sure impresses but our kids didn t think much of it for ... despite the story I told.
Unique Suggestions: The kids were a bit playful so they ran about and soon knew what the entrances to the hole were....elder people that visited didn t like this very much so we moved on.
When you see this blue and yellow signs along a dust road, you are entering part of the national trust parcs where nature is kept as it is without too much human influence.
The office is right in the middle of the village.
The address is:
Bosweg 2a, 7981 LE, Diever;
