Favorite thing: The printing trade is central in this town. Lovely shopping, nightlife and stroll around the center.
Also main town for the region where you can visit Giethoorn, Blokzijl and Staphorst.
Nice region to stay for a holiday.
Fondest memory: 141 km. from Amsterdam, 1:36 hr drive.

Favorite thing: This gigantic grave in Borger is the most beautiful of all the hunebeds. Why it is this big is not clear. Perhaps it was because in these areas the main population of the 'Trechterbeker' people lived. The megalithic tomb is 22,5 metres long and thus the biggest in the Netherlands: 9 flat covering stones on 26 sidestones and 2 closing stones and a complete entrance with 4 sidestones and 1 covering stone. More little rocks found nearby could have been part of the megalithic tomb as well. Not many archeologic founds were done recently. In 1685 a noble unmarried lady from Groningen named Titia Brongersma had done some of that already. Nothing of it is saved though.Next to the megalithic tomb is the 'Flint'n House, also called the National Hunbed Information Centre (NHI), an exposition certainly worth visiting with all that has to do with megalithic tombs and the 'Trechterbeker' people.Every year some 70.000 visitors come here.
