This windmill from 1837 is located in the National Park Drentsche Aa, close to Gieten. Zwaluw refers to the bird swallow in Dutch.

The gristmill is open to the public every Saturday from 11.00-15.00h. It is also open when the flag is shown!

Entrance is free but I'm sure that a contribution is welcomed.

Gieten has his own mill. It's called "Hazewind" witch revers to the speed of the Greyhound.
The flagg of the village contains also the Greyhound. Probably originally an old familyshield and revering to the hunt.

The exact village of the mill shown on this picture, is "Oude Molen" which means "Old Mill" :-)

In the municipality AaenHunze you can find 5 windmills.
