Scooters was the only place I really went to when I was in Drachten. I was there for three weeks in a study abroad program. We were within a comfortable biking distance to the place andtThe owner introduced himself immediately and was extremely friendly as was the rest of the staff. The bar goers were also a lot of fun so we made this our destination more than once while there. The live music was good and we actually found ourselves performing a few american hits for the crowds listening pleasure...(it was actually pretty bad but a great time nonetheless).
Dress Code: Causal is the name of the game here.
Each year in early December, Sinterklaas arrives in Drachten by boat. He travels through the town square, which is full of parents and kids lining the streets to see him and his 'Black Petes'.
Not sure how to spell the town name but it is only a 45 min. bus ride from drachten.
It is a riverfront and is a bit larger than drachten.
It is a bit more modern but still offers the quaintness that most dutch cities tend to offer.
The bus station in drachten is right off the main road that runs along the town center, there is a conveninet table of bus arrivals and departures for several easy day trips.
