My friend and i went by train...its so nice to see the Netherlands coming by and you dont have to drive and can have a coffee or tea. Its also like you are starting your holiday the moment you are in the train, there is nothing you have to do, than make sure to get out at the right moment!
A boat is the best way of getting around in Grouw (and the rest of Friesland) there is water all over. But busses and taxi;s, bikes and cars are welcome too.
More info of trains you can find on this site: Dutch Railways

Well i would like to tell you here that this boat belongs to me or my dad. But i am so sorry i have to dissapoint you here. We just climb onboard for this picture.
But its the best way for getting around. A lot of restaurants have the mainentrance on the watersite! On the picture you can see some girls we spend the most of our time with called : Martine and Bonique.

The good thing is they have a little boat, that when you are almost lost on the other site of the lake they came and pick you up.
The bad thing is you are so tired of this surfing that you cant go out in the evening...if you never ever have surfed before, its harder then you think! We had a good time though so if you wanna have a try just make sure you dont hit a big boat! and there are people with a boat who can pick you up when you cant make the turn back like me!

After a while you have the feeling of the sail and the thing under your feet. You THINK you can manage on the water.
So they give you a nice wetsuite and let you weat this all day (the GIRL at the front of this picture is me) and you look like a sausage!

Cause we were there for two weeks we stayed the weekend. To make sure we would do anything strange (ha ha) we had to enter a windsurfingcourse. That was okey for us....well when we started!
We could go one way with the windsurf but to come back was very hard. You start practising on the ground, not on the water.
