The beach, you can´t miss it. Great for walking, letting the mind wander, clear it.
But weather permitting also a wonderfull place to spend the day doing nothing, swim some, read a bit, buy an icecream.
As far as I experienced, you can do a lot on Terschelling. Be aware of a lot of other holiday makers doing the same what you are enjoying. The island is not very big, however, it offers quite a long cycling route around it with nice natural dune areas, beaches (also for swimming). The same applies to walking. In small villages you can do horsebackriding.
A lot to do, but if you don't want to do anything, but enjoy peace, nature and the sea, hop over to the island nextdoor - Vlieland!
This is the Harlingen fishing-port.
When you see the harbour after your depart from Terschelling than you know that your trip to the wonderful Wadden sland Terschelling is over. :-(
Maybe till the next time but it was a nice trip to Terschelling.
Well after a few nice day's on Terschelling where we have make nice beach walkings, bike riding and been to a few nice restaurants. Stay in a good appartmend in Landerum is it time to go home.
Here we see the place West Terschelling after departing the harbour on the way to Harlingen.
Terschelling is great for bike riding, There are a lot of cycling tracks. On the roeds there is not a lot of traffic. But stay right they will drive fast on the small roads. But in the dunes is it very good to make a bike ride on one of the many cycling tracks.
This is me on one of the cycling tracks of Terschelling in the dunes.
Terschelling is an exellent place for nice bikeridings. There are a lot of cycling tracks, and on the roads is not a lot of traffic. In the dunes there are special cycling tracks.
Here is one of the cycling tracks in the dunes.
Also on West-Terschelling you can find a small museum, called "het Behuyden Huis". It's a museum about the culture of Terschelling. It's a very nice place and you can learn a lot about Terschelling over there.
It is not really something you must see, but when the weather is bad, it is nice to see (and a place to stay dry)
On the photo you can see the lighthouse of Terschelling. It's called "de Brandaris". It's one of the most famouse lighthouses in the Netherlands. You can find de Brandaris in "West Terschelling", that's the village where the habour is. It's one of the biggest villages on the island, there are a lot of things you can do on West (that's how the people call it). you can go shopping, you can go and see the habour (there is alway something to see), you can make a big hiking tour along the "groene strand"(the green beach, I don't know why it's called that way), have a drink or lunch with a great view! A good place to do that is: "de Walvis", you can find this restaurant besides it "groene strand" in West Terschelling. Or an other option is to rent a bike and make a cycling tour around the Island!
Almost in the middle of the island you can find the village Formerum. The Mill you see on the picture is located here. It's a good place to take a break, you can have a drink here (the hot chocolate with cream is great!). And if you want to, you can also play minigolf here.
Here is one of the many Fishing boats of Harlingen. Its returning to his harbour in Harlingen.
Here is the little vilage Midsland at sea. The house are in the dunes situated. I think its nice to live in the summer but in the winter?????
This is the Northsea. Terschelling is surrounding on the northcoast by the northsea , the southcoast by the Waddensea.
There are seals but you can only see them from a distance.
Here is The "Noordkaap" of Terschelling with the lighthouse of the other Waddeneiland Ameland.
Yessssssss we make the hikingtrip of 20 km. It was a nice walk with good weather it was dry and some sun and a lot of clouds.
I been walking a 20 km return on the beach. It was lovely just me and my friend Marian on the beach. This is me on the beach.
