Activities around our national holiday: Queens day at the 30st of April put Arnhem up-side-down. Livemusic on many locations and everything goes into a partymood. On the marketsquare is a huge freemarket for people who want to find that one item that they never saw in a shop.
Dress in orange (colour of the Dutch royal house) and you will be one of us. At night fireworks over the river Rhine are an official end to the festivities, though many party on until the next morning.

If you are near Ede, please have a walk around Bennekom and it's castle, it's nicely restored and sometimes there are rare festivities on these grounds..
The castle is found along the Edeseweg between Bennekom and Ede and has the name 'Kasteel Hoekelum'.
Behind the castle you can have a walk in the very old forest.

You can visit lots of diffent types of musea during your stay, but do not forget to walk over the Grand National PArk The Hoge Veluwe when you have a chance, it's almost 85 square kilometers of forest in the middle of the Netherlands, though there are some vilages and some roads you can see animal life here on it's best, specially when you go early in the morning to a place called Planken Wambuis or Ginkelse Heide, see my traveloque for some pictures and details
