Kasteel/castle De Essenburg part I
The story about this castly goes like this:
This castle was build by the family Van Essen in the 14th century.
In 1672 the castle might be destroyed by the French. In this year they started to rebuild it.
In 1950 the castle was ruinous and bought by the Premonstratiensens. The Premonstratiensens restored the castle, the surrounding land and the canals.
Today it is home to a company that deal with training and education. You can have a party up here, meetings & trainings and stay the night in one of the 42 rooms.
On 20 February 2011 I went to the restaurant to have lunch. I had 3 sandwiches with baked eggs on it, tomato and meat (price € 8.75). Afterwards I had homemade sorbet of mango with raspberry sauce on it (price € 6.50). Yummie!! Tea will cost € 1.85 and coffee € 2.25.
