This is an amazing morning ... getting up kissed by such a beautiful country view, isn't it?
It is so rusticly Dutch and so country atmospere.
Staying at the Fletcher Paasberg Hotel you have the same possibility, though Lochem is built on a mountain, so the views anywhere has to be spectacular, too.
The "Witte Wieven" (litererally "White Women/Wives") telling is an originally German myth (Weisse Frauen) or saga with influences from Scandinavian mythology and English folklore. The white colour would have been transmitted out of the believes of elven-spirits, native goddesses and nature spirits. They can be seen at noon, or when cloudy weather, in nebulous forms.
It is thought that the colour of alabaster or even albino's has interwove into the legends of the Witte Wieven who are spiritual creatures to humans. They advise the humans (telling fortune, healing sick people) though can be dangerous, too. Like witches or Wicca's of now-a-day times ...
It is remarkable you can find some of the origine of the Witte Wieven all over the world, like in Africa (with the Tuaregs) and on Java (see my painting).
Also in Lochem people can show you places where Witte Wieven has been seen, read >>>
Witte Wieven, in Dutch
It was a great experience to witness a true ritual event in Lochem's country land, organized by Athanor and Avalon Priestesses from the Netherlands and England. The farmer, and owner of Athanor, allows his property to use for spiritual events, like this one. It is said the area around Lochem offers great opportunity to experience spiritual powers. I never could imagine I would enjoy such an event and was amazed by the seriously prepared performance of these women ...
Not far from Lochem's centre it is a nice walk along Lochem house-places. Beautifully coloured gardens full of flowers make your walk pleasant and for sure the families living here enjoy their lovely gardens, too.
Not to be missed! A beautiful mermaid statue, lost in a small river. I donot know anything about the mermaid statue, nor do I know who created her ...
