The hero's that walked 200 kms. by Pavlik_NL Third week of July, Nijmegen goes bananas at the yearly 'Vierdaagse feesten'. From Tuesdays to Fridays the town holds a million-population among which 40.000 marching members that walk the streneous four-days-march of Nijmegen. Every day they hike 50 kilometres as if it is not nothing, but the guys and girls that do it get the best support imaginable. The week in which the march is done has an enormous amount of activities. Live music, fireworkshows, ballooning, freemarkets etc. etc. These International Summerfestival is indeed international as you will find many countries represented in the 4x50 km.march. If you can go in this week to Nijmegen, you're in for a party that you'll never forget. Leave a Comment

by ptitetoile Paul (VT-member Pavlik_NL) and Irina took their first lesson of argentine tango with Eric Jorissen in El Corte during the DobleOcho festival. It was really great for me to see them for the first time, particulary dancing in this magic place!!! Leave a Comment

Mariken a victim of bookcrossing by egonwegh Well ... not a local custom, but book crossing (www.bookcrossing.com) has become popular in Nijmegen, thanks to 'Klaartje' ... Here she's left some books at the feet of Mariken's statue on the Grote Markt, as her picture shows ... The purpose is to go hunting for these books and announce the results on the internet. The weaponshield of Nijmegen by Pavlik_NL With a large resemblance to the cityweapon of Arnhem, Nijmegen too has a double headed eagle in it's city weapon. A perfect example of the shield can be found on the main entrance of the new cityhall. Leave a Comment

There is one event in Nijmegen that will make a visit to this town absolutely worth while. It is the International Four Days Marches (vierdaagse) in Nijmegen. This is such a happening, over 20.000 people have entered for this years march. It will be the 85th march and will be from 17th Juli until 20th Juli. I have never been to see this march, but I have seen it on tv. This is something I really would love to see for myself. The atmosphere in Nijmegen must be amazing during these days. You can find more information about the march on this website : http://www.4daagse.nl/ Leave a Comment
