If you have enough of the city live, and you feel like walking or bicycling, don’t forget to take this bridge. It is nice way to reach to other site of the river (the Nijmegen Lent site) It is a quite way to reach the other site without cars, but with trains. The Bicycle Bridge is connected to the railway bridge.
If you reach the other site don’t forget to take a break on one of the river beaches and enjoy the boats floating by.
If you do not want to take the same way back you can take the Waal Bridge back to the City centre part. If you do this walk it takes about 40 minutes. Leave a Comment

The forests of Nijmgen are the residence for many animals, it is a great place to discover for young and old. The moraine on witch the city of nijmegen is located was punched up by glacial ice during the second ice age. At some places the moraine reaches heights over 90 meters above Amsterdam Ordnance Datum. A bathroom 15th century style :-) It is on the outside of the castle and it is nothing more than a hole in the floor. This parts of the castle hangs over the moat, so no flush toilet was needed. Simple but effective :-)

Hernen Castle is a castle with a moat around it, dating back to the 14th century. Because this castle was hardly used since the 17th century it hasn't been changed at all since those days. It is quite an extra-ordinary castle in the Netherlands, because it has some unique architecture. It is one of the important examples of defendable houses in the Netherlands.
