Grand cafe Atlanta: Grand cafe Atlanta
Arrived in Nijmegen in a blizzard, so lunch in the hotel bar. On the menu baguettes right through to a full meal. Both went for the first and well presented, very tasty and filling.
Stopped for a beer there last thing at night, friendly and fun, recommended
So close to our hotel, looked good had to try a meal there. Not sure what the building used to be, pleasant place to eat now though. Food excellent, helpful staff, decent choice of beer too, slightly more expensive than usual but worth it I think.
Cafe "In de blauwe hand": Historical glory in a cafe
Favorite Dish: This cafe is one of the oldest cafe's within Nijmegen and is still holding it's original name" In de blauwe hand". Literally translated it means "In the blue hand" and it's called that way because it's located
near where the cloth dyers used to work (see "Laken-hal" in the must see activities), and their hands turned blue from the
indigo used to dye the cloth. The cafe dates back to the mid 16th century and
has been open since then. The place however is cosy, warm and serves a wide range in beers, beverages and liquors. For everyone that what he/she wants.
Cafe Restaurant "De Waag": Where you food can be weighted
Good for drinks on a sunny terrace or during the colder days in winter in the cafe, cafe-restaurant "De Waag" is a welcome change from shopping and/or sightseeing. In the evening one also can find a good menu here for an evening dinner or late supper.
Favorite Dish: Right on the central old market square in the historical "Waag" building.
Landhuis de Duckenburg/Eten bij Zusje: In stately mansion in Dukenburg
19 July 2014. The restaurant is a stately mansion in a park-like setting with trees and a pond, in the Nijmegen town district Dukenburg. We were here with a friend of ours who is a vegetarian. So the cook had to improvise a dish, because they seemed not very well prepared for receiving vegetarians. Because temperatures approached 30 degr. C, we dined outdoors.
Favorite Dish: J. and I had a three course menu for which we paid 24.50 euro each, with salmon and artichoke; saltimbocca (that's an Italian dish, veal lined with prosciutto) ; and a slice of pie with icecream for dessert.
Restaurant Het Heimwee: Great ambiance at the bank of the River
Nice little informal restaurant, very good food!
Especially suited for couples. No big parties!
Favorite Dish: Don't ask me to translate!
What I can say, they have a nice choice of fish and meat products.
Nijmegen, most mtr2 terraces per person!
Most restaurants are cosy and busy. Along the Waalkay many are to be found with quiet descent pricelevels (studentprices!).
On the water of the river is a pancake-boat.
Restaurant Uylenspieghel: Authentic restaurant, popular with students
Kitchen: Belgian ; Dutch
Open: from 16:00 hours till 22:00 hours.
Reservation: to be adviced
Children's facilities: Highchairs available
Favorite Dish: The menu is allways changing!

Nijmegen has many wonderful restaurants. For instance, you can eat in this renaissance Weigh house on the market square.
