Grand cafe Atlanta: Grand cafe Atlanta

by bonio Written Mar 12, 2005

Arrived in Nijmegen in a blizzard, so lunch in the hotel bar. On the menu baguettes right through to a full meal. Both went for the first and well presented, very tasty and filling.
Stopped for a beer there last thing at night, friendly and fun, recommended

    Waag: Waag

by bonio Written Mar 12, 2005

So close to our hotel, looked good had to try a meal there. Not sure what the building used to be, pleasant place to eat now though. Food excellent, helpful staff, decent choice of beer too, slightly more expensive than usual but worth it I think.

De Serre: Turkish restaurant in all but the name

by egonwegh Updated Apr 8, 2010

We had a small dinner party at Turkish restaurant De Serre on 8 April 2010. Here you can see me with my Peter, my Turkish teacher and fellow students.

Favorite Dish: In this picture should be bulgur pilavi, incirli kebab, hellim, mücver, sigara böregi peynirli etc.... it all tasted delicious.

Open Tuesdays through Sundays, 2 pm to midnight, dinner time between 5 and 10 pm (Check their website).

Cafe "In de blauwe hand": Historical glory in a cafe

    by Pavlik_NL Updated Jan 1, 2004

Favorite Dish: This cafe is one of the oldest cafe's within Nijmegen and is still holding it's original name" In de blauwe hand". Literally translated it means "In the blue hand" and it's called that way because it's located
near where the cloth dyers used to work (see "Laken-hal" in the must see activities), and their hands turned blue from the
indigo used to dye the cloth. The cafe dates back to the mid 16th century and
has been open since then. The place however is cosy, warm and serves a wide range in beers, beverages and liquors. For everyone that what he/she wants.

Cafe Restaurant "De Waag": Where you food can be weighted

    by Pavlik_NL Updated Nov 15, 2003

Good for drinks on a sunny terrace or during the colder days in winter in the cafe, cafe-restaurant "De Waag" is a welcome change from shopping and/or sightseeing. In the evening one also can find a good menu here for an evening dinner or late supper.

Favorite Dish: Right on the central old market square in the historical "Waag" building.

Besides monument, also cafe and restaurant:

Nice little informal restaurant, very good food!
Especially suited for couples. No big parties!

Favorite Dish: Don't ask me to translate!

What I can say, they have a nice choice of fish and meat products.

    Next time the real picture!

Most restaurants are cosy and busy. Along the Waalkay many are to be found with quiet descent pricelevels (studentprices!).
On the water of the river is a pancake-boat.

Nijmegen has many wonderful restaurants. For instance, you can eat in this renaissance Weigh house on the market square.
