On 24 November 2002 my wife, our foster child Roy and I went to the Cinema Roma (what's in a name?) to see this movie: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
Picture: Harry Potter catching the phoenix's tail. I'm not quite sure if this was actually in the movie, but hey, it doesn't matter ...

Overasseltse en Hatertse vennen
A nice piece of forest with little lakes, where you can walk several routes of different lenghts. The shortest is 3 km and the longest about 10 km I believe.
This area is between Nijmegen and Wijchen and is an area of outstanding beauty.

Kasteel Wijchen
In the castle is a little museum with a collection of prehistoric, roman and medieval attributes found in Wijchen and direct area.
Changing expositions of contemporary art and in the castle tower you can visit castle info, which gives you an insight on the history of the castles in the county of Wijchen. The county of Wijchen has also a castle in Batenburg and Hernen and some call Huis te Leur a castle, which is in fact a mansion.
The castle is situated in an old park.

Fri 11.00-17.00 hrs,
Sa and Sun 13.00-17.00 hrs.

Dutch pancakes in all kinds of varieties and further normal local cuisine following the french style of cooking.
Great Terrace. The ideal startingpoint for walks around the Overasseltse and Hatertse Vennen. Great forestland with a little forestlake here and there.
Favorite Dish: Farmer's Pancake.
A pancake with toppings of onion, different vegetables,, gouda cheese and meat.

Our favourite beach - De Berendonck along the road from Nijmegen to Wychen. On sunny days, it's very crowded here and the water is not too cold. As you can see, this picture was taken when the beach was almost deserted ...
