In a lot of 'Eetcafe's' (dinner cafe) they serve cheap menu of the day. Just take a stroll along the several cafe's and make your choice!
I always like 'Het Pakhuis' (Peperstraat), but also 'de Brasserie' and 'de Stadtlander' (both Poelestraat).

    'Het Pannekoekenschip'
Restaurant in an authentic 80 year old clippership. They serve pancakes with dozens of different toppings, varying from sweet to meaty and cheezy.

    Favorite Dish: Spekpannekoek met stroop.
one of the simplest and cheapest. Pancake with bacon and 'stroop' which is a kind of thick syrrup. Might seem like a strange combination, but hey, you only live once, just try it.

Febo. Basically, Febo is a fast-food joint with a distinct Dutch twist. The food is placed in little cubby-holes by someone inside the place, and the fool who is brave enough to try it, puts money in from the outside (meaning on the sidewalk), and then opens up this little door to pull the food out. They choices are mostly versions of a Dutch food called a crockett. The most popular version is a deep-fried helping of a gravy-like substance that is 'beef-based.' Of course, you can get other crocketts like cheese, chicken, or veal, but they are all deep-fried. The McDonalds here even has a 'McCrockett.' So picture this, its four in the morning, your outside on the sidewalk, put money in a wall, pull food from said wall that consists of deep-fried gravy and has been there for who knows how long, and eat it on the street with about 40 or 50 other people who are doing the same thing. I kinda like it.

I will not say its my favorite restaurant, but its one place where you can stay in your car and still get your food. Because we already had Diesel with us, and we didnt want to leave him alone in the car, we deceided to get some McDonalds.
I think the playground for children. As an adult you can jus sitt down and enjoy your meal. Dont take a meal for the children cause they love to play more then to eat ha ha ha

Favorite Dish: We both had a Big Mac, french patatos and i had a cola light and my sister a bottle of water. It was yummie although it was strange they didnt had the sparkling water...

The restaurant is located in a small building from the 16'th century. There is a cosy atmosphere and the dishes (very important) are original and delicious. It is not cheap dining here though.

    Favorite Dish: Carpaccio of herring

Groningen has a lot of small restaurants, called 'eetcafé's', which serve good food for fair prices. Some examples are The Ugly Duck (Zwanestraat), De Stadlander (Poelestraat), TimeOut (Poelestraat), 't Waagstuk (Poelestraat). Don't wait to be seated, you generally can decide yourself where to sit.

In summer Groningen also has many streetside terraces, where you can also get a bite to eat.

Favorite Dish: Ask for the daily special.

Roezemoes specialises in traditional Dutch food called 'Stamppot' (My dictionary says; Hotchpotch). It's real Dutch and ....dead cheap (Dfl 15,--).
