A nice thing to do is to canoe on the canals in and around Loppersum. There are lots of canals and you can canoe from village to village. There is a canoe rental not far from Loppersum (about 3km), in a little village called Wirdum.

The website is in Dutch. Renting a canoe is not expensive it all, I was quite surprised about the rentalprice. So give it a try some day!

Sometimes you have to pass an obstacle on your bicycling trip, like this little bridge, called hoogholtje, over the canal "the "Wijmers", close to Loppersum. You can't bike over this bridge, but you have to push you bike on a quite steep slope on the bridge, and off again on the other end.

One thing you can do very well in this area is going on a bicycle trip! There are so many bicycle paths in the area, which bring you through the typical Groninger landscape. The landscape is very flat (actually, it can't get any flatter than this), so you don't have to worry about getting tired by biking up hill..... it is as smooth and easy as you can imagine. Hahaha, except for the wind of course, because it can be very windy here! Phew... and that can make biking quite a hard thing to do! But on a lovely summer day or evening, it is something you should try.

Loppersum : The village where I used to live
I have actually no clue why I am writing this page, because I don't think Loppersum is that special. But I've lived here during most of my childhood, so I thought that I ought to make a page about......
Childhood memories........from the day I could be trusted on a bycicle almost once every week I cycled the 4 kms to this little place. And back home of course ;-). Loppersum is a nice enough village...
