What to buy:
Drink a Gerardus Kloosterbier and you support the monastery in Wittem. A part of the money is used to maintain the building and church in honor of St Gerard.
Untill 1952 the Redemptorists of Wittem brewed the beer in their monastery. For their own consumption and to sell to people in the neighbourhood. Today they use the same ingredients like the local hop and more, but it is no longer brewed in the monastery but in the beerbrewery of Gulpen.
What to pay: about 2,50 - 3,00 Euro in a pub
What to buy:
The St Gerarduswinkel sells statues of every holy saint you can imagine. They also sell candles and other attributes needed for worshipping.
We bought a nice nativitygroup here to place in our garden. But be aware.... the statues we bought were solid concrete and 1 meter high, so they weighed about 80 kilo each.
What to pay: Prices differ according to quality. Our group was 1250 Euro for 11 statues. But there are also smaller statues for 10 euro each.
