Specializes is South American dishes with a menu that ranges from Steaks to Fish to other meats and vegetarian meals. The portions are small and overpriced for what you get and the service is very bad. They have also overcharged and wrongly charged me in the past. Health Inspectors have issued fines to this restaurant in the past I have heard. Be very careful if eating here.
Favorite Dish: Scared to try anything for the fact you never know what will be in the food!

When you want to eat the seafood from the neighbourhood of Bergen op Zoom (northsea) you have to be at De Bloemkool. Here you can eat delicious fishdishes, oysters, mussel etc. It has a nice atmosphere, with chic dishes and not too chic personnel.
Favorite Dish: Of course the fishdishes. And especially the `Zeebaars`.

El Mundo de Carlita is a trendy restaurant in the centre of Bergen op Zoom. It is situated perfectly, right in front of the Markiezenhof. They play Latin music, everything is decorated wonderfully in Mexican style and they have a trendy menu.
The restaurant is also opened after dinner time. Then you can drink something of eat tapas (untill 22:30).
Favorite Dish: The oven dishes are very good. And off course you have to drink a Desperados with it.

Het Appeltje is really a children farm outside of Bergen op Zoom. In the weekend you´ll see countless little children playing in the playing yard here and watching the animals. There are chickens, deers, pigs, rabbits, birds and so on here. The most famous inhabitant of Het Appeltje is Bartje. He is the swine of the farm.
You can eat here too. You can eat fries, delicious sandwiches and pancakes. These are to most beloved by the kids.

A real budget tip is brasserie in de dikke Daan. This nice place is part of the hotelschool so the students learn how to cook you food en how to serve it to you. Every day they have a menu for 8,50 Euro. And a plate for less than 4 euro. They are closed during schoolholidays and only open from monday untill friday during lunchtime.
Favorite Dish: The food was always great

Not worldshaking gastronomical food but simple and good. Not badly presented either.
I did miss a few day specialities though.
Unfortunately (it was May 7) none of the Bergen op Zoom specialities were on the menu: fresh anchovies, asparagus and strawberries.
Maybe we were a teeny bit too early in the season?
Favorite Dish: Trio of fish (seabass, salmon, tuna) grilled with mustard sauce € 18,50
Salmon with Hollandaise sauce. € 15,50

On the terrace of restaurant De Bourgondiër. What better way to start a trip around the town. We drank some cappuccinos here.
