Warm ambiance and Latin decor don't make a meal. The guacamole contained only mashed avocado - where was the minced onion, the garlic, the cayenne pepper, tomato bits? Or even just salsa? The food was bland with no discernable flavours. Latin American food should be very falvourful and spicy, not full of cabbage. The mojito was watery with too much ice, no lime zest or juice, no bitters, and very little rum if any. I visit Cuba every year and know how a mojito should taste! The servers were friendly and helpful but it was difficult to get their attention and they got our order wrong. I would only go back for a beer and to enjoy the ambiance.
P.S. This review is for La Iguana - I don't know why VT wants to label this "De Corenmaet".
Favorite Dish: Among our group of 6 people, no one liked his/her entree.
The atmosphere is great, as well as the food.
Favorite Dish: The menu changes every 3 to 4 months, but they always have delicious tapas! The names of the dishes on the extensive menu often have something to do with what's happening in the Netherlands at that time. On mondays you can get a 3 course meal for € 12,50. They claim to offer free smiles with dinner, which most of the times is true!
I always like to have a bite here when I'm in Breda. It's a cosey combination of café and restaurant and the menu is quite original. It's especially funny when you understand Dutch, because they names of the menu items are usually based on little word/spelling jokes. They also serve a selection of tapas which are good as a snack. For a real tapas meal I'd suggest visiting a real Spanish restaurant.
