The restaurant was completely empty when we arrived there around 20.00h. Normally not a good sign and a reason to look further....
However, we did our research on internet and knew that this restaurant had a high rating and good reviews on a Dutch restaurant website. Apparently they also were on position #8 of a list of the 88 best Chinese restaurants in the Netherlands.
Since it was sunny we sat outside on the small terrace on the sidewalk.
The food was good, I had duck and my girlfriend a vegetarian dish with Chinese mushrooms.

Quite big Italian restaurant.
Service was friendly and fast, although it was quite busy. It's popular with the locals.
They have several vegetarian pizzas and a vegetarian oven dish as well.

Big, sympathetic place right next to the Town Hall on the 'Grote Markt'. We stopped for coffee but you can also enjoy various afternoon teas (English style), lunch or dinner.
Favorite Dish: 8 coffees, 2 teas, 1 cappucino and 3 hot chocolates amounted to exactly 25 euro.

I'm thrilled to have found good, crisp, deep-pan pizza here. I use the website thuisbezorgd.nl to order my pizzas for delivery and they usually take about 30 minutes to arrive.
Favorite Dish: Cheese pizza. You can't go wrong.

Dickens & Jones was a wonderful restaurant to have our V.T. dinner meeting. It had a charming atmosphere and we had our own area so we could converse and socialize. The meal was very good and the staff friendly and efficient.

Many restaurants to choose from. Unfortunately the one we would have liked to go to was closed!! It is called Trattoria Il Teatro and is located at Haven 7. Therefore we picked out an Italian restaurant on the Grote Markt.
Update 2004: We finally made it to Il Teatro during the Breda Jazz Festival in 2004. We really enjoyed the place - it's furnished like a theatre - and the food was good!
Il Teatro is closed on Monday and Tuesday.

Koffie en Zo is a chic and trendy lunchroom in the upmarket shopping centre 't Sas.
Furnishing is in brown and blue-greyish colors.
It's open for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea/coffee.

This little gem is away from the centre of town, and situated in a neighbourhood called 'Ginneken'. This used to be a small settlement which has been 'swallowed' by her much larger neighbouring town Breda. But the old centre is still there and it is very charming. On the main street from Breda to the Ginneken area ,the Ginnekenweg, is Meneer Dijkstra situated. A small nice place to eat. For about 8 - 9 euros you get a plate with french fries, mayonaise, and salad. You can choose from a menu which meat/chicken/fish you want added to the plate. They also have vegetarian dishes. The food is nothing fancy, but good, simple and nice.
The people there are very nice, atmosphere is very friendly, open and informal. But please, don't swamp the place because I still want to get in!
I mentioned as price 11-20 USD. This is including drinks (about two drinks a person plus coffee afterwards)

Restaurant The Beyerd is a unique restaurant in Holland because on the menu you will find Dutch and Belgian regional dishes that are prepared with all sorts of beers.
Favorite Dish: 3 Hot bean soup.
A hot soup with beans,bacon and onions prepared with "Rodenbach Classic",a delicious Belgian beer.

Dickens & Jones a great restaurant in the heart of Breda, located in the middle of the Grote Markt. We had a great VT meeting dinner in this place and really enjoyed the food.
The restaurant serves French and Dutch dishes. Three course meal costs 19,50 Euro.
Favorite Dish: What could I eat there, really ;-) Of course grilled salmon again, but it was sooooooo good.
