My friends and I discovered this tapas bar on my graduation day. Usually, I'm not a big fan of tapas. I'd rather have a huge plate infront of me than many "samples".
But everybody seemed to like the idea so we headed to La Rambla.
It's a new place located right in the middle of the Grote Markt. It often gets crowded, especially in the evenings. And it's not surprising. The food is really good. Not that I can say the same about the service, but after living in the Netherlands for 2 years, I kinda got used to it.
There were 5 of us, so we could try pretty much everything on the menu. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and I was glad that this place was chosen for my graduation celebrations.
We, of course, started with the bread that is served with all-i-oli sauce and very quick it became our favorite dish, so we kept ordering more and more and more.
Fried shrimp in garlic sauce was great, as well as the stuffed mushrooms. The ossenaas and the biefstuk reepjes were melting in the mouths of the meat eaters among us. And of course we had several salades too. Everything was properly washed with beer, the beers selection is not impressive at La Rambla, but we were satisfied with the Belgian Jupiler.
The desserts were fantastic. The "Crema Catalana" which is pretty much the same as Creme Brule was a great conclusion of our dinner. And Pieter_Jan_V enjoyed his coconut ice cream served to him inside the original coconut shell.
It was indeed a great dinner. The 5 of us paid 100 Euro for everything we had on our table. Definitely worth every penny!

La Rambla is a bar-restaurant located at the central market square.
There's a terras outside at the ever busy street to the market.
Inside there's a bar at the left and the rest of the area is filled with wooden tables for four persons.
Favorite Dish: Vegetable soup as a starter is perfect. Fresh mushrooms and courgette makes the dish tasteful and complete. The Spanish sausages are surprisingly delicious.
For the main course you just h ave to pick a number of tapas dishes. There's seafood and vegetarian ones, but the Puntitos de Toro with spinach are superb.
If you still have some room go for a finishing touch like Creme Brule or a coconut icecream.

A nice restaurant that was recommened to me by Axel (Kozzmozz)and Esmeralda (Wenasje). Three of us had a very good dinner there and enjoyed belgian beer as well.
Cafe Bruxelles has a nice bar as well, so it is unnecessary to go there for a whole meal, you can always enjoy the drinks
Favorite Dish: Every week day cafe Bruxelles has promotional prices for some of its dishes. On Wednesdays they serve their delicous steak for 8 Euro only. Don't miss the spareribs on Tuesdays, for the same price. And maybe you'll want to avoid the place on Mondays, since on this day students line up by the restaurant to get their huge meal for a very cheap price.

The old historical building, dated back to 1897, is hotel and restaurant as well. De Heeren van Oranje is situated at the entrance to the beautiful Mastbos forest. The atmosphere of the place is indeed relaxing. The terrace of the restaurant is big enough to accommodate many people and you don't have to order the full meal to be a customer there. Many people come to De Heeren van Oranje for drinks only and then continue walking in the woods
Favorite Dish: The restaurant's menu offers a lot of good dishes: sandwiches, salads, meats etc. Originally known for the French cuisine specialties, you still can find some local food as well
The oranje juice is freshly sqweezed. Although it price is a bit above average (2.75 Euro) it definitely tasted better than in any other restaurants and cafes.
The "Salade van de heeren" is my favorite dish which includes smoked salmon, chiken, brie cheese, ananas, and walnuts. Absolutely delicious!

This restaurant will get your food fast if you call to order it 30 minutes ahead and then step by to pick it up.
Their dishes are very good, the portions are huge, and everything is freshly cooked. There is a lot to choose from the long menu.
If you decide to have a meal at this restaurant better get ready to spend there more than 2 hours, at least. Especially if you're not the only customer at the place.

I have been in this restaurant 3 times and each time had different opinion on it. The first time the waitress wasn't so nice, but then again the poor girl was sick, lost her voice and could hardly speak. Our pastas where great though. So I didn't really have a reason to add this place to my "never again" list.
The second time the service was perfect but the salmon dish was the most horrible I ever had. Finally, when I went there for the third time the food and the service where just perfect! The pizzas we ordered were delicious, our waiter was very nice and helpful and the whole atmosphere in the restaurant was just great.
So I'll definitely give this place the 4th and 5th chances, because it is not bad at all.
I probably wan't be able to avoid the sick personnel, but definitely can stick to the real Italian dishes which taste very good at this restaurant.
I would recommend eating at this place especially if you're in a hurry and don't have time to chase your waiter all over the restaurant.
In the summer Da Atillio have a nice terrace right in the Grote Markt. And they are very quick moving you and food inside the restaurant if it starts raining all of a sudden.

No longer my friends and I have to go to The Hague or Rotterdam to enjoy good wuality sushi! The fusion is a new restaurant that opened in June. Have to admit that it's interior design is very unusual to Breda where every bar and restaurant looks almost the same (unless it is a stylish expensive one). Service is definitely not of Dutch quality (Sorry Dutchies, don't mean to offend). The food and the atmosphere of this place will make you want to dine here again and again.
Favorite Dish: The sesame ice cream is the creme de la creme of the menu! You must try it. It is served on a big plate full of fresh fruits and it is delicious!

very busy beer cafe just out of the city centre. Bewildering amount of beers to choose from, if in doubt try de Klassiek, made on the premesis to an old recipe, very good. Did want to eat there too but it was booked by a 50th birthday party.

So, it's just started to rain very heavily, need a quick meal as we're going out later, here's the first restaurant we found, and a good choise too!
Favorite Dish: Cold day, soup, followed by pasta, could not be faulted. Well worth a visit.

Originally Het Kabiet is a French restaurant, but I wasn't there for dinner so can't really give any tips about their special dishes.
On a rainy morning Roy (Imaniac), Claus (cachaseiro), and I were looking for a place to have breakfast. Het Kabinet seemed like a nice place and it was!
The omelletes were great, the service was really good and the prices were about the average.
Like many other bars and restaurants in the city, Het Kabinet is located right by the church at the Grote Markt.
