Housed in a former army building, the museum was probably what made our daytrip here more memorable than it would otherwise have been. In fact it was one of the most impressive town museums I have seen. Breda might appear sleepy today but has seen lots of events through history and you can learn all about that here as well as see good art and temporary exhibitions on just about anything local. Animals, clocks...Very nicely done and with a cafe to rest your feet in afterwards. There is also a stage with various concerts in the opposite building.

Breda's Museum was founded almost 100 years ago and is the cultural historical museum of Breda. In december 1998 the museum moved to the corner Chassé barracks, gaining over 1100 square meters of exhibition space. There are now two permanent exhibitions about history, named 'Tijdspiegels' ( Mirrors of Time ) and 'Ooggetuigen' ( Eyewitnesses ), and one permanent exhibition about art and applied art, named 'Blikvangers' ( Eye catchers ). Just recently, in august 1999, a new permanent exhibition for children was created. Next to the permanent exhibitions the museum organizes temporary exhibitions with varying themes.
