The entrance

Favorite thing: The park opens at 10am - 6pm everyday but during the summer busy period 9 July - 26 Aug it is open until midnight with illuminations for a special nightime visit

Prices are as follows for 1 April - 28 Oct but increasing for busy period (9 July - 26 Aug)
under 4 = free
adults & children over 4 Euro 26 (Euro 28)
Disabled & Senior citizens (60+) = Euro 24 (Euro 26)
2 day ticket = Euro 47 (Euro 51)
7 day league entrance after 4pm (not valid in busy period) Euro 23.50
Groups of 20+ = Euro 21
Car parking Euro 7

De Efteling

Fondest memory: This may seem a bit costly but when you compare it to short attractions like the Amsterdam dungeon which costs Euro 17 for 1hr you have a whole day out fairly reasonably.

Be aware that there can be long queues for attractions & it is best to check the website for the busy periods. We were lucky that we went on a friday & the park was not so busy so our waiting time was minimal.

Be prepared for loads of excitable children and adults!!

Papier hier, Papier hier

Favorite thing: In the Efteling they have original waste baskets.

You find these special baskets all over the park.

Special you think, oh yes, as these waste baskets speak, all the time these baskets are calling for paper: Papier Hier, Papier Hier (paper over here. . . )

And then once you have put a piece of waste in his mouth he thanks you.

You can imagine that is big fun for the children, they all want to put some paper in his mouth.
And like this the park stays clean.

how cosy.

Favorite thing: Near the Bobsled Course, there was kind of an Austrian village square. It was a very cosy place. Of course the snow made it a bit more as we were in Austria, there also was Austrian music. And different food stalls were selling big sausages and delicious pea soup.

The entrance of the Maze

Favorite thing: For the children there is an adventure Maze.

This is the entrance to the maze. As you can see this entrance is made especially for the children. However parents are also allowed to join the smaller children. But it is not so easy to enter through the small gate for a grown-up.

The Maze

Favorite thing: For the Parents who decide not to join their children, they can follow their children from the outside.

In fact this one big adventure for the children. They have to cross bridges with water shooting across them, there is a speaking statue, and there are water splashes.

A piece of Madurodam

Favorite thing: No, No, this is not a mistake.

There was a piece of Madurodam in the Efteling park. Inside the skate tent you could see a little piece of this Miniture park.

In fact Madurodam is a park where you can see Holland in miniature, they say that here you can see the smallest city of Holland. Madurodam is located in between Den Haag and Scheveningen.

Anton Pieck square

Favorite thing: This square is dedicated to a great man Anton Pieck. He is very well known for his beautiful drawings and paintings.

He has made a great book which describes the daily life of the Gnomes. The drawings in this book are magnificent.

Anton Pieck was one of the men who created the fairy-tale wood.

a map of the park

Favorite thing: You can buy these maps in the park at several points.

The park is divided in 4 themes (clock wise):
Adventure realm
Alternative realm
Travel realm
Fairy's realm

Fondest memory: At least go to these rides:
The train: just take a seat and see the whole park.
The pirania: During the summer very refreshing ;)
Python: If you dare
Bird Rock: If you dare (in the dark)

Ah what the hell! Just visit everything, even the maze ;-)

Pardoes

Favorite thing: Pardoes is the symbol of the Efteling park.

He has his own Avenue : the Pardoes Avenue, where every night passes the big parade.

This small court jester even has a girlfriend : Pardijntje.

On the picture you can see his statue.
