Even despite the football (it was the afternoon of the Netherlands v Brazil 2010 World Cup quarter-final) the city's street market was still doing a bit of trade. Admittedly it seemed to be mostly young women, old girls and hen-pecked husbands, but it gives the impression that on non-football days this is a lively diverse maket.
The market trades Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and the stalls range from food to clothing with pretty much everything else between that you could imagine a market selling.

A small shoe shop with exclusive shoes, on the way to the train station. Very helpful people.
I'm not really a shopping person, though I like to look. But on our visit to Den Bosch, the zipper of my boot broke which was a silly sight. After the Den Bosch visit I was to travel to Rotterdam and visit my sister, so there was still quite a long day ahead.
I considered buying new boots in one of the cheaper stores or maybe even on the market but somehow just didn't do that. We were walking a bit and was triggered by the sign: 2nd pair of boots for free (the cheaper pair) or 30% discount on the 1st pair.
What to buy: I found myself in a shop with quite high quality shoes. I found one pair, fitted them and liked them immediately. Then tried to find another pair, which wasn't difficult except that the 2 other pairs I liked were around € 400. Waaay above my budget (which I didn't have in the 1st place!). So I just bought the one pair and am mighty happy with it!
What to pay: Well, I had 30% discount. The boots cost anything between € 150-450.

This is said to be the smallest candy store of the Netherlands. I always wonder who is actually doing research to make these type of stupid little facts. Anyway you can buy tyical Dutch candy here and most things are super!! Mind your teeth though! I don't exactly know what the name of the shop was, but the street in which it is situated is very small so you'll find it.

In this shop you can buy a lot of Mexican handywork, but also nice presents and home decoration items.
What to buy: There are many wooden sculptures not only mexican but also african, like an almost 2 metres high wooden giraffe!
What to pay: Various prices for all the items, but since I'm really interested in one of those giraffes I remembered their prices. The very big one was €99.00 and the smaller one was €47.50 or something like that.

Shopping is a pleasure in 's Hertogenbosch as it has - besides the many standardshops you see in every town in NL - also a lot of surprising little shops that sell the strangest items. They are mostly found in the little alleys left and right from the main shopping streets. Shops of antiquities, specialist in decorations or ... well, think of it and it can be found.
