Eindhoven is linked with Bayeux in Normandy as the first major cities to be liberated in their respective countries and each year on 28th September the "Freedom Flames" is carried from Bayeux and rekindled in the special torch holder near the Liberation Monument.
The three figures of the monument represent the Soldier, the Resistance Worker and the Civilian.

This striking bronze tablet records the German Bombardment of 19th September 1944.
First the Germans fired bright yellow amrkers over the newly liberated town and then, with as yet no Allied anti-aircraft guns in the city, about seventy aircraft flew over dropping their bombs.
Over 220 inhabitants were killed.

You'll find this on Markstraaat Square, on the side of the KFC building.
The two bronze panels show hands joined by the flames of the torches that they hold. They represent the meeting of American and British troops and the inscription reads
"Liberation of Eindhoven 1944-1994. US 101st Airborne Division General Maxwell D Taylor. British 30th Corps General Brian Horrocks. Whoever asks for freedom must offer others freedom"

this old building is located in the heart of the center opposite the Philips stadion.
Today i visit the exposition called `Armut macht Geil` meaning `poverty makes horny`, the entrance is free, the artist work for free.
Its a place for cultural renewal, 2000m2, lots of small and big rooms for artist,s architects, graphic/industrial/ and web designers, carpenters, musicians etc etc.
