in the park in the centre is a lovely statue of the painter and it is a nice place to sit for a while after the walk. The statue was erected in 1984 an initiative of the foundation Nuenen-Van Gogh 100 years. The sculptor was Klaas van Rosmalen and he wanted to show Van Gogh as he walked through the town looking for things to paint.more
This little centre has a lot of information about the painter and the people in the cetnre are so friendly. Do watch the DVD about the painter and his life in Brabant. It is very interesting. In the centre you can get a leaflet with the description of a walk in it showing places around the town where Vincent van Gogh visited.more
This is a wonderfully tranquil and geselig little hamlet outside of Eindhoven. It is home to the oldest tree in Nederland, de Lindeboom, and has a statue in honour of Van Gogh who lived there in the early 1880's. Given my admittedly biased dislike for Eindhoven, I think its the best thing about that city, due to its close proximity! I recommend it...more

Unique Oriental restaurant with special dishes. A very special place. Especcialy for a romantic dinner. Live music is offered in weekends. Not really one favourite menu-item. All food is good here. Not really cheap (but not too expensive either) and not as much as you'd expect from 'normal' oriental restaurants, but definitly sufficient. Friendly...more
Visit 'het Klooster' for some excellent theatre, cabaret and music. Some info can be found at this site (in Dutch).
Inside there's a little bar where you can get a drink. Most of the time there's an exhibition with art from local artists on the 'Rabobank Plein' inside het Klooster. Admission is free, opening times are from monday to friday from 9 am to 11 pm and in the weekends whenever there's some kind of activity planned.
When driving through Nuenen (Either by bike or car) beware of all the cobblestones in the centre. They can really wreck your car's suspension. CAUTION! SLIPPERY WHEN WET!
Van Gogh documentation center. Located near the City Hall in Nuenen. Not a single authentic drawing or painting from Van Gogh is displayed here.
Luggage and bags:
Just bring some Euros € (We DO have several ATMs but most of them are generally out of order).
Everything else you need can be bought in Nuenen.
(Maybe then eventually the City Council can convert their debts into profits)
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Always bring an umbrella. You never know?!
Even when there isn't a cloud in the sky: Birds are everywhere! Especially in the Main Park. I got hit twice in one hour!!
