Favorite thing: Fontys: high degree of art and creativity
Journalist, visual artist, teacher, dancer, sports economist, musician, communications expert; Fontys in Tilburg offers a colourful palette of educational opportunities.
my daughter Sanne studied at Tilburg.
for students: Surfing the web to take a peek at what's going on in Tilburg? After all, you want to get more out of your time at University or College... You want to have some fun, too, and live decently.
The proportion of creative subjects is high. Consequently, the atmosphere is different to that at other Schools of Higher Vocational Education. This year, Fontys is even offering rock music as a subject at the only Rock Academy in Europe.
Fontys Colleges is the largest teaching organization for Higher Vocational Education in the Netherlands with courses in economics, education, health care, art, technology, and community care. The varied Fontys educational courses fit in perfectly with the new image of Tilburg. The modern industrial city is not only concerned with employment and industry, but also with well-being and culture. Fontys has splendid academies in these fields, such as the Academy of Visual Arts, the Brabant Conservatoire, the Fontys Dance Academy, The Academy of Architecture and Urban Development, the Academy of Creative Arts, and the Academy of Journalism and Information.
Rent a bike
Favorite thing: Rent a bike (or a car if you insist) and visit some of the nice old villages in the area. Oirschot is an absolute winner here, with a few very special churches and monumental buildings (see the picture!). Hilvarenbeek is always worth a trip too. Visit Oisterwijk the first sunday of July, for the best beer-festival in the Netherlands.
Fondest memory: The view from my flat. To the west I could see the tower of the Great Church of Breda, to the east I saw the church of Oisterwijk. Not to forget the view I had over Tilburg itself.Related to:

Favorite thing: Visit some of the many catholic churches, that date from the 19th or early 20th century.
Fondest memory: Often these buildings in neo-styles are fine examples of brick architecture. On the picture you can see the large church on the Heuvel, the city´s central square.

Favorite thing: On the Rubens Square in Tilburg I pictured this!
Fondest memory: This is one of the many common squares of Tilburg. Normally they're nothing special, but here, the residents decided to cheer the place up by copying Rubens' paintings on the wall. What a great idea!!!

Favorite thing: I lived there for a while; it's a town that looks unfriendly but the people are (generally) hospitable.
Go into the town centre and visit some bars.....
Fondest memory: 'De bokkerijder' an Inn/ cafe in the forrest (direction) Belgium) Sit outside in the sun, drink a belgium beer and enjoy...... You'll know what I mean!
Purchase your tickets, the earlier the better
Favorite thing: I was fortunate to buy my tickets at the ticket window before hanging out with my friend. By the time I returned (around 10 pm) the ticket window had closed. I don't know if you could purchase tickets on board with a credit card (with possible surcharges?) so I was glad to buy in advance.Related to:

Favorite thing: Take your bike and leave the city
Fondest memory: Very near the outskirts of Tilburg you can visit the Trappist Abbey, where the monks are making traditional beer.
Look at the brick architecture
Fondest memory: This school was built in the style of the famous Amsterdam School of architecture. It has its own Tilburgian element too: the typical roman catholic cross on the top!

Favorite thing: Take a look at the little squares outside the centre. They all have a triangular form.
Fondest memory: I have a pied a terre near this square called Korvelplein.
